I can't upload a page. I keep trying to upload a page, but when I do, it says the page cannot be read. I thought maybe firefox was just being dumb, so I tried it on IE. It still didn't work. Is it just my computer, or is there something wrong? Help?

What type of file is it?

Well, depending on the file type and your settings when you saved it, it may be too big file-size-wise.

Most comic pages are 200kb or less. The system won't accept anything 2Mb or larger. If your image is that big you really need to look into how to make your file sizes smaller. Different file types are good at different things, and most of them have got quality settings etc which can help.

Everyone thinks they need to use the highest possible quality png that that is rarely the case.

Kinuchio - I've never seen that message before, it sounds like something got corrupted somewhere and the file isn't completely readable? Will it accept the file if you try uploading it in your 'files'? I'm willing to have a look at it and try uploading it myself, etc if you want to send it to me. skoolmunkee at gmail , or you can PQ me with a link.

Well, there are two things here. jpg is the file TYPE, which helps determine how the image looks. File SIZE is different, and can vary widely, but is affected by the file type you use. You need to find out what the size of your jpg is. If you go to where you have it saved on your computer, and right-click on it, you get a little menu. If you choose 'properties' a little info box will come up. One of those will say 'size' and will give you a number in kb or Mb. If it's larger than 2 Mb then DD won't accept it. (Actually it may be 1.5... can't remember)

You have to re-save it in a different way. You said it is a jpg- if it is too large then your 'quality percentage' is too high. When you go to save, it, or 'save as', there will usually be some kind of quality setting or options for you to play with before you click OK to save it. For most people, a jpg can go down to about 50% before it starts looking too fuzzy. It's unrealistic to expect a crystal clear image with most jpg files. Different file types are better at different things.

jpg- good for hand-drawn stuff, photos, paintings, scanned in comics, etc.
gif or png- good for sprite comics, black and white comics, simple drawings

You should try saving the comic page a few different ways and see how their viewing quality and file sizes compare. What you are looking for is something in the middle- an acceptable size (200kb or less) but the nicest-looking for quality.

It's hard to advise you past that because we don't know what the comic page looks like.

Just want to chime in here and remind the poster that MSPaint will usually save .jpg files at a rather low quality, and that if you're going to adjust the quality of the .jpg as Skool said, there are plenty of other programs that allow that.

If you have a PC right click on the thumbnail of the image, in other words open the folder it's in and right click on the page. Select "Open With..." and select "Microsoft Office Picture Manager" When that opens up, right click on the image and select "edit" and then click "resize" on the right. I Select "Predefined Width x height: Document - Large" and then save the newly resized image. Just check out any of my comic pages to see that size.
