Breaking the Ice follows aspiring actor Mick Nardelli as he journeys through awful day jobs and weird relationships. It's a slice of life comic that is in many ways autobiographical.

It's pretty much gag-a-day, with some longer storylines here and there. It's quirky, offbeat and character driven. Some of my influences are the EC Segar Popeye/Thimble Theater, Bloom County, Far Side among others.

I haven't drawn since I was in high school and when at Comic Con a year ago, I attended a webcomic panel. Having loved the artform since I was a kid, I decided to pick up pencil and pen and do one for my own enjoyment. It's been running since January 2007 at my website (www.johnkeating.biz) and over at ComicSpace. Recently a friend told me about DrunkDuck and I thought it would be a great place to upload it as well. You can see the strip evolve from me using templates to actually *gasp* drawing new panels

I update it pretty much weekly (on Wednesdays) and I've uploaded the first 15 of the 32 strips I have. I'll be uploading the remaining later today or over the weekend. I invite you to check it out. If you're a fan of the humor comic strip I think you'll enjoy it.

I'm in the process of uploading my archive to DrunkDuck. I just uploaded four more strips to bring the count to 25 on this site. I should have the other 7 (plus this Wednesday's new one) up by mid-week. Thanks for reading!

I just wanted to let everyone know that the entire archive of 35 strips is uploaded here at DrunkDuck.

If you're a fan of slice of life, gag-a-day strips I think you'll really enjoy Breaking the Ice. It's been called quirky, character-driven, offbeat and sometimes...even funny!

I invite you to check it out, leave me a comment on the strip or even leave one here!

There will be a new strip this Wednesday.
