I love Darwyn Cooke's work. I'm a fan of the Timm/Dini verse, grew up on it in fact up till the end of highschool when JLU ended. I enjoyed the Superman Doomsday but was not blown away. It had its good moments but it wasn't mature enough for me. To me the Hellboy cartoons were better than that movie but it was still enjoyable and had some good moments. I hope they really get this movie down right. I'm going to buy the special edition on February. So what's your thoughts?
Also No more cheekbones on superman...awful design choice
About fukking time Robin made the League! None of that Teen Titans or Superfriends crap! I was bugged that Speedy was in the JLU, but not him.
Right now, the DC Universe line is doing another film of Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, despite the fact that they did the whole Terra story arc in the TV series. Bruce Timm is also working on a new anime movie titled Batman: Gotham Knight which will have 6 short stories of the Batman Begins storyline, each one done from a different anime studio, sorta like what they did for Animatrix.
Batman: Gotham Knight sounds cool, but this looks bad. I wish they would make an animated film out of "The Long Halloween" cause that rocked. But this movie looks like it'll be another all action no plot lots of crap movie.
"If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours."
-Henry David Thoreau, Walden
It's plot was more about the world during this time between the golden age and silver age. The older superheroes were kicked out. New superheroes started to form but they themselves are outlaws. It had more than one main character and that was kind of a problem, but the way everything balanced out in the end and had connections to other characters made it a great read.
There'll always be another serious batman story. As good as the Long Halloween is you have to realize alot of it was taken as an homage from the Godfather and other crime movies. This is more of an epic superhero period piece.
