Hello All,
Platinum Studios needs graphic savvy interns for our digital publishing department! This is an UNPAID internship and you will need to be available to come work IN our LA offices a couple days a week. With me so far? Here's some of the skills you'll need to have:
Excellent Photoshop Experience
Other Graphic and Layout Programs a major bonus!
Great Organizational skills and enthusiasm for your work
Familiarity with HTML and web page design and layout
Technical understanding of DrunkDuck.com and a love for web comics!
If you think you have what it takes please send your resume WITH an outstanding cover letter explaining why YOU are the best candidate to:
workforus@platinumstudios.com with the subject line "Digital Publishing Intern"
Feel free to ask any questions in this thread. Good luck guys!
Nrgh, almost qualified, I live about an hour and a half to two hours away from you guys, and with it being unpaid, I'd be paying just to hang out with you guys a few days a week. T_T
Sad thing is, I have each of the skills you outlined. This sucks.
It's the experience though HP, plus the inside knowledge you'd gain, not to mention doing some networking and stuff! that's worth a bit of $$ in of itself
Plus, it's only a few days so you've got enough time to earn money from a normal drab paying job of some sort... or study etc..
i wish i could apply for this. i meet the requirements and anything with computers i just love. plus i have networking, database experience, and software testing experience which might come in handy there but the 5-6 day commute just ruins it so sad now.
This would be such a great opportunity, but living so far from either location and having a full-time job to pay for a 10 month old and wife and house, relocating doesn't seem like an option. But the funny thing is the 10 month old is more than qualified for the position and has been trained in all programs and her work ethic is phenominal!!! Is there any age restrictions, because she can take the daily commuter flight?
You know, if this were offered as a summer thing, I'd totally be up to it. Been working with Photoshop for, oh, about 7 years now. Excellent? I suppose so. I also have a good deal of design experience. Of COURSE i love webcomics and im fairly organized. Unfortunately, I'm in school as of now (IST major - HTML experience woo!), so no dice for me. =/
I do have a question, though. What do you mean by 'technical understanding of DD'?
Here's the irony in this. I live in LA and I'd really love to try out for an internship. Hell, I even know where Studios are located (...past the 405, I think.) I'm good with Photoshop, I'm somewhat obsessive in organization. I have a familiarity with HTML and web page design and layout as well as a technical understanding of DrunkDuck.com and just love webcomics. The irony? I'm much to shy to actually try it. DX
(The soap opera webcomic about nothing in particular.)
Damn! Old timer like me I have zero to no skills on PS. Just enough to get myself in trouble..or out. But what a helluva chance to work with a good group of people..the amount of knowledge you'd pick up would be worth every minute...what if I offer up my two kids as slave labor and donate all my organs to Platinum?

No God Damn It. DO IT. Shyness is a defense mechanism! The only way to overcome it is through experience! Besides, Platinum is all adults. They're not friggin high schoolers for gods sakes.
Also if you ARE still in high school just think how good that'll look on a college transcript!

A boy in the back of the room raised his hand and asked "Does that mean Lady Gaga is an angel?" I have never been so confident of our future leaders. MLIA
I live in LA, but don't seem to meet the requirements.
The only thing I'm good at is telling jokes through my poorly drawn comics and besides, I would be too busy flirting with Carly... with her big beautiful eyes.

Terminal> WHAT?! too shy? Whatever. We are the dorkiest most un intimidating people on the planet. Well except Dylan, he'd prolly take your hamster and hermetically seal it in a water bottle and laugh at you while you cry about your poor sad trapped little hamster. he's mean like that
When I say excellent photoshop skills I don't mean you have to know EVERYTHING. We just need people who are good at altering images and creating art.
Technical understanding of Drunk Duck? I mean that you understand that DD is a web comics hosting community, and you can figure out how to use it. Meaning if you're here, you meet that requirement (unless your mom like has to log you on and upload your stuff)
DON'T BE SHY! SEND US YOUR RESUME! really guys there's nothing to loose, and as long as you meet the basics we are willing to work with you. This IS a learning experience.
I'm just inquiring a few things about this internship since I live three miles away from the studio.
How many internship positions are available?
What is the general range of hours you expect people to work?
Is it only Monday-Friday or is also open on the weekends?
What level of HTML experience are you looking for in prospective candidates?

Currently there are two internships available
The days and hours are up to you, we can work with what your schedule will allow
We are not open on weekends (you crazy girl?) ^_^
Basic HTML is okay. If you can alter a template here on DD that's good enough.
I live nowhere near LA, but don't seem to meet the requirements.

"Carly" Said: on Teleportation Technology development: No we haven't but we're working on it. It's actually a high priority with all the traveling we do as I can't sit still for more than 5.8 seconds.
from what i see on the duckcam, it looks like a fun place to work

a good opportunity to be sure, and I'm really just chiming in to say that I totally disagree about them being the most un-intimidating, dorkiest people on the planet. especially that Carly Mizzou and that Matt dude Of course, the REAL person who holds that title would be me. Not only dorky, but OLD to go with un-intimidating, and hermit like. Someone should jump on this, it would likely be a blast!
Because human interaction, despite what the internet has tried to reprogram us to think, is actually quite important. Plus you get to network at the same time. If you're just on a work for hire basis (only in this case without the pay) it doesn't really benefit you as much.
