I have a character. He needs a name. Any ideas? He's the rival from crystal.

When I'm thinking of names, I usually just pick one off of a sign or magazine at random. It works for me.

Sometimes I use Babynames.com Look at roots and meanings and say the names aloud to see if they produce a certain feeling with their sound. (For example, names that start with "Sn" are good for conniving villains. Reminds people of words like snake, snail, sneak, sneer, snot, snoop, snag...)

My comics are about knives, rats, and rats with knives.

'Sn' words also include 'snow' and 'snuggles'. EVIL!
I admit I forced that. >_>

Yeah, I do something like that, except it's more 'take a random name, any name, and if you don't like it as it is, assrape it 'til it cries'.
'Fyrinae' started as 'Fern', but it reminded me of Fearne Cotton (British TV presenter) and she annoys me so I screwed with it for half an hour to see what I could make up. The fact it's now so stupid is kinda a running gag. =D
(Although I didn't do that for Skye. She got her name because she comes from what amounts to a hippie commune. It's tame compared to what I could've called her.)

From the list? Bob. It's a nice, multi-purpose name.
I do like Jethro also. It doesn't get used enough.

Currently rewriting Pictures from the start - and it is now called In Carnate.

the name should either fit the character or be ironic to the character

A hot kiss is like a loose spiderweb, someones fly is gonna to get undone
A democrat is someone who would be a republican if he had the money
A blond can be bad at history and great on dates
A golfer yells"FORE", takes five, and writes down three
A brassiere is a device to bring out a girls best points
A husband is a man who gave up priveleges he never knew he had
Bad Sex is an oxymoron

if any of these made you laugh, grin, smile, or any happy expression read my comic

A character's name should be thoughtful and should reflect the person, I mean my main character in EB is Elemental Blader for his powers, and in CJ is Coveinant for the purpose of other things. Just put a little thought into it and you'll do fine, just don't worry and a name will come to you.

Enter my contests and be happy about your ideas.

go here, I may have left you something good
