What's everybody think of him? Warren Ellis that is. He writes shitloads of stuff and has just released his first novel 'Crooked Little Vein'. Anybody read it?

i have every issue, every trade, and another copy of the first issue of Transmetropolitan signed by him and Darick Robertson, as well as a customized Spider Jerusalem lego-man complete with two-headed cat and lego laptop.

Warren Ellis is my freakin' hero.

Of his stuff, I've only read 'Nextwave: Agents of Hate', but that on it's own is one o my favourite comics ever. It was brilliantly insane. I ought to look up more of his stuff.

The Authority blew my fragile little mind and I don't think I've ever really recovered. I pick up most of the stuff Ellis writes, and it's always worth reading, really.

Yeah, i've been meaning to pick up next wave and get all the transmetropolitan's tpb's. I've read some of planetary which i love and the authority. And i wanna check out his novel and Fell. He does loads of stuff! Apparentl, he's the guy with the most trade paper backs in print in the U.S.A. And he don't even live there!

Planetary is one of the best books EVER. His creator-owned stuff is solid, but I find his marvel work to be... I don't know, predictable and unengaging.

He's one of my favorite writers & has HUGELY effected how I write (despite his mainstream work).

Personally, I couldn't get into Transmetropolitan even a little.

I read the ultimate fantastic four work he did and found ok. It wasn't terrible, but i weren't as good as some of his other stuff. Like you say, his creator owned stuff seems great and way more creative. I like the look of Desolation Jones too. Was gonna buy it today, but i am trying to save as much as i can. I will say though that his New Universal work he did for marvel looks interesting. Anyone read that?

Wanna check out Ocean and Ministry of Space too, and i wouldn't mind reading the ultimate galactus trilogy.

I had some personal messages back from him the other day on myspace about his novel, but they were very brief, nothing that inspired the crap out of me. Maybe he doesn't have the time.

I want to read his novel, but haven't even purchased it yet.

Ocean, MOS, & DJ are all great. And Fell is a stroke of genius. The NU & UGT were nothing spectacular, if not down right boring.

Like I said though, Planetary is his best. It's a really deep exploration of the suits & tights crowd. Seriously kick booty.
