I have a project that I've been trying to work on. Usually life and work gets in the way, but my main enemy is procrastinating.
The only way I know at the moment is to bribe myself with treats or to find a partner who is willing to work withv me. So far neither has worked for me.
I made this tread in hope that someone will share their methods. Mine is usually to treat myself with going to my favorite place or to buy favorite treat after working signficant amount of hours or getting things done.
I gotcha, man. Procrastination gets me all the time too.
What I do, is, I read comics, manga, anything that would really interest me, and then I get this fantastic exhilaration building up. It's really hard to describe in words, so the best way I can put it is as: "This artist is SICK. I wanna match or outdo his or her standards. Let's start doing that as soon as possible!" So then I subconsciously know in my mind that sooner or later I'm going to work on my comic in an effort to improve myself, AND I'll also have fun.
However, my number-one weakness is videogames, so I play those in moderation and pretty much hope I still have time to draw. :P If anyone has ideas to shift attention from videogames to drawing, I'm all ears.
Right now, because I'm not all that interested in remaking the first chapter of my comic, I procrastinate a lot. My schedule is at least once a week...so, of course, I end up updating at the last minute torwards the end of the week.
I don't know how you beat it...either stop completely until you are in the mood or force yourself. =/
i have a little notebook that i make a list of what i need to do each weekend. plus i keep a bunch of comics as a buffer for those lazy days when i dont feel like making comics.
After I update once, I try to make two or three more pages afterwards on the same day. This way, I don't have to draw for the next few days. Come to think of it, I'm starting to do that a lot now...
I agree with the "make-pages-ahead-of-time-so-you-can-be-lazy-later" thing, but it DOES have a price to go with it. Sometimes the art quality won't be as great, since you don't really have a strong drive to make good progress.
