but I think it's completely unnecessary to remove a Feature because the associated picture won't load.
I looked upon http://www.drunkduck.com/Haley/index.php?p=223413, read a few pages, Fav'ed it, and bookmarked it until I can catch up... all without the picture being available on the DD Front-Page Feature.
My own train of thought regarding the picture was that it was just another bug we'll patiently have to put up with -- it didn't deter me from looking at the comic. If I allowed all the bugs to sway me in such a manner, I wouldn't be here now offering up my opinion that you are doing these artists a disservice by removing their Feature -- I would have stopped coming to Drunk Duck a good ways back.
I feel you should put both of the Features back up. I would hope that most of us who frequent this site on a daily basis would be mature enough to look beyond whatever bugs pop up, and continue to support the artists who put their precious energy into their craft just to entertain us.
We definitely intend to re-Feature them again so it's not a permanent thing. SpANG has gone around and told both artists of our intentions so hopefully they'll understand.
Yes, we're definitely going to re-feature them. It's more an issue of fairness- being featured is a big deal for comics and gets them LOTS of attention. However if their picture isn't there, it's harder to grab people's immediate interest (because there's no 'teaser' just words). That puts them at a disadvantage and isn't giving them the whole 'featured benefits' experience. We feature the comics because we like them and think they need attention, if the attention-getter is kind of broken, we'd rather wait and give them the full shake rather than give them a half-baked kind of featuring.
Plus it just highlights the fact that there are some weird bugs going on right now... we don't need the main page to look buggy when everything else is already.
