Before I start I'd like to say that I have no problem with seeing some adverts on DD- if they help keep the site up and running then by all means get some more, it's just that they can occasionally be just that little bit irritating. e.g. just now I tried to get onto the 'Browse Comics' section of DD and there was this massive advert in the centre of the page blocking out all the thumbnails. Likewise some of my friends have told me that these adverts keep blocking their favourites list when they click on it; this combined with the fact that half the time it is that advert of the girl hitching her knickers up when trying to read a comic which is rated E for everyone it becomes really quite annoying. Has anyone else experienced this? Also f DD is going to advertise 'flirting' sites surely some kind of filter could be applied to make sure that they only appear on comics rated Teen and above? Honestly think of the children!
Get rid of the things! I can't stand scrolling up to my favourites menu and then I see the most repulsive advert of a tart pulling her dress up and showing her under wear. i find this extremely degrading. also i think that nobody should have to see that kind of thing when all they want to do is read a good comic.
He's said he's not sure if they have individual control over the ads like that any more, so it might not get taken away :/ I don't like it there but if the system doesn't run that way any more...
LowRes has probably seen it, but I made a mock-up of the "DrunkDuck of the Future!" which showed a comedic version of a future DrunkDuck bogged down by adverts, all of which were placed in inappropriate ways. This was before the Search and Browse or the Profile 'verts, but almost directly after the inane news post 'verts were implemented.
Now it seems as if though my terrifying look into the "future" is coming true after all. God I am awesome.
Seriously, these ads are placed in some pretty aesthetically awful spots. I understand that the site needs money to operate, and that you're probably boxed into some terrible deal with advertising agencies that you have no way out of in the near future, but <Son of the G-dawg> this is bad.
