I used to do an original superhero comic and I would scan it and put it online. In the very last issue, I did one of the characters in anime style. Compare how she looks in the first frame with the third. I had a lot of fun doing that issue...

I had to shrink it a little but you can see the full graphic at http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k261/irhaven/am147pg7a_phixr.jpg

The Peanuts style is truly great. Charles M. Schluz was the best.

I tried to capture his style. It is kinda hard.

(The soap opera webcomic about nothing in particular.)

This is some of the orginal concept art I did for when I was creating my comic. It's the style I pretty much stuck with.

And this is just one the styles I experimented and played around with later on.

A comic I did a while ago

My favorite is the Machall panel.

I'm working on a flash game with a friend. This is pretty much experimental. Vampire Overlords character in sprite flash format. Woot!

I am reviving this thread on the account of its awesomeness ^_^
I gots a few riiiight here, starting off with people who inspired me throughout the years.

Here we have, from the top left: Chuck Jones, John Kricfalusi, Charles Schulz (from the left again with a Snoopy-fied Mr. Noodle) and Bill Watterson. Ignore the little gremlin on the bottom, that's just my own old style.

Two that got left out due to room issues, Theodore Geisel and Brian Froud.
Notice the amount of Western art that's in there? I've borrowed a few things I like in Anime, but no series that I can think of has really influenced my style as a whole.

Then, on the opposite spectrum, artists that did not influence me, but people insist they did anyway and it is highly annoying:

I won't get into a rant about how sick to death I am with JTHM comparisons to my comic, but I'll repeat again for the record I had my same style looong before I even heard of such a thing as a "goth" or a "goth comic" (heck, when I wrote CTV the only comics I'd ever read were the Animaniacs, some old HarveyToon and Disney comics, and a promo comic for the movie "The Dark".) I think the elements of influence are fairly obvious in the first 2 images. Chuck Jones did absolutely brilliant evil smiles!
I also redid a comic to be obnoxious and random like a JTHM fancomic, I won't post it here because I'm sure you're already sick of me as it is. Everyone who read it so far however, says it proves how marvelously idiotic it is to imply I'm heavily influenced by J.V. (I am filled with bitterness this morning!)As for DBZ and Lenore, I really don't mind. At least I watched DBZ and though I'd not heard of Lenore at the time either, at least the proportions could be almost similar. (I never drew Charby with mitten hands, however)I should also point out I gave Vasquez-Charby way too much hair...I doubt he'd cover his head up like that. That style is a pain in the butt!

Some more silliness, with the likes of Tezuka, Tim Burton and Sanrio.

And a more recent hodgepodge of drawings, with the styles of: Warner Bros. (Animaniacs to be precise on this one) George Herriman,(Krazy Kat) Klasky-Csupo (I really dislike that style, though I did like the one monster cartoon...argh at new Rugrats though)A CLAMP-ish, Chobits-y style wedged right beneath that, from the left again it's Craig McCracken,(Powerpuff Girls) Johnny Hart,(B.C.) far to the right is Stephan Pastis,(Pearls Before Swine) bottom left is Hank Ketcham,(Dennis the Menace) Samuel Butcher (Precious Moments!) and Maxwell Atoms.(Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy)
Aaaand that's all folks!

Jeepers Amy! That's a LOT of different styles. You're even more of an amazing artist than I first thought, being able to master all those styles. I can barely manage my own let alone a bajillion others as well like you o_O

That's odd, I thought drawing in different styles is actually easy. All you need is a sample of some other artists' style and incorporate it into your character drawing.

Yeah, I got agree, I've got a whole bunch of art books from various artist and I just spend hours looking at their style and incorporating bits and pieces that I like into my own by practicing their style. It's actually a lot of fun. If you can find some very drastic differences in style and draw your character in those style, it's kinda fun to see how it comes out.

Aww, ozoneocean, youse gives me way too much credit.^_^ But thank you.
It is not too difficult copying another person's style though, if you're familiar with the elements they use. I keep this in mind when shooting for originality by specifically not using things that are pretty much someone's trademark in style. Drawing in other styles is a little difficult if you have a hard time shaking off the instinct to draw it how you would draw it, not how they would. You have a very unique style and I can see how it would be difficult to shake the urge to draw it your way too ^_^

And while I agree it's easier to copy a style when you're looking right at it, save for the Stephan Pastis Charby, I didn't use any reference for these, 'cuz they're done from memory. It's more fun for a challenge that way, even if my manga-Charby looks nothing like the character I was going for, since I'm none too familiar with the CLAMP stuff.

That's what I thought: it being from your head. Memorising styles seems pretty amazing to me.

Eunice: Hah! You just say that because you're good at it too

This thread seems pretty interesting, I think it needs a sticky.

Most of the main characters of MM done in the style of Jhonen Vasquez, although it's a little bit white for his work.

Just a bunch of quick sketches I made just now.
An interesting topic :D

The grumpy one in the middle is my "original" style.

That is just tooooooooooo cool for words. I really like it its now going to be my desktop wallpaper. Wow this thread has become a monster its growing and growing look what i have created! Anywho i agree that its not that hard to draw differnt styles even if your not used to drawing them but it may be a little harder to draw paticular characters in a differnt style. Like spider-man is pretty easy to draw as manga!
