I played the original back in the day right before it blew up and loved the simplicity of the game. I haven't played one since, but the new ones just came out for the DS.
My wife was asking what the deal was with the series, so I filled her in on the basics of it being an RPG where you collect cute little critters to battle.
That just made her want it.
So now we have them. She spent most of the weekend playing. I've played a little bit and it's pretty fun. Seems to be just like the old one, just with more stuff and better graphics.
I don't have DS but i've picked up at least one game from each set since the beginning (i have the original red, blue, and yellow).
I love the series, its one of those games i keep coming back too. I'm still playing Leaf Green, i was so excited when they said they were remaking the original. I once again got to assemble my legendary team.
Charizard
Dragonite
Articuno
Zapdos
Moltres
Mewto
all level 60 or higher, im trying to get them to level one hundred, just like i did before i discovered the sun.
Did anybody else spend like 3-4 hours waiting in some line outside some store hoping for the very insignificant chance that you'd get the "lottery" ticket so you could get the legendary Mew pokemon?
I used a Gameshark to get a Mew, but I traded them to anyone I met who played the game.
Anyway, I haven't really played any games since Silver. My friend tried to get me into Diamond and/or Pearl, but I never bothered to. The games themselves, as far as I'm aware, have always been top of the line in their field, but I just don't want to deal with the annoying subculture that comes with them.
I have the diamond version, my sister has pearl. I'm still kind of miffed she doesn't have wireless in the dorms, though, so we can't trade until she goes home.
Depends on what you're looking for. As far as the gameplay goes, it's not terribly different. They have a few additions like the underground where you can create your own little hideout and run around with people you know online, but in general, the game is your usual walk around the world and fight the gym leaders for badges formula. One thing that I do like, however, is that they've finally made trading less of a chore. As long as you can get online with your DS, you can use the trading database type thing they have to post what you're looking for and what you're willing to trade for it. To me, that alone makes the game worthwhile.
Well, I am new to the postin on the forums but yes, I played the Pokemons ever since Red and Blue. Oh how I loved the Pokemons. I love goin back on my blue version and going "THESE GRAPHICS SUCK!" but it's still great, every one of the Pokemon games. I have like 600 hours on each one.
It's kinda weird how that worked out, too... Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald were made to bring back and enhance upon the classic games (Red/Blue/Yellow), so FireRed and LeafGreen were made.
Diamond and Pearl, on the other hand, were made for the sake of bringing back Gold and Silver features, and surely enough, we're looking at remakes of those.
I have a question, which gym leader gives you surf?
if it's the water gym leader then I don't know who gives you the TM.
I beat the water gym leader and didn't read his ending saying so I don't know if he allows you to use surf outside of battle yet.
AWESOME MAN! Here to make the day more AWESOME.....MAN!
Dun dun dun awesomeman AWESOME MANNN!
*repeats until your head explodes*
Well I hope if they are doing remakes of ones that came out not too long ago on GBA that they do something really cool with them. Maybe go 3D like the FFIII remake.
I've played all Poke'games up till now =3.
Yes, even the spin-offs, though they do not excell the greatness of the main games.
Gold is still my fave, I just adored the fact that you could go back to Kanto after the main game =3.
Have had Diamond & Pearl for some time now, imported it right at the American release, since it won't get released for millenia in Europe ;^^.
I have 4 Mews, one each for R/B/Y from an event.
And one thanks to the Mew cheat. (Don't you just love the dozens of glitches in the original x3)
A remake of GS would be awesome, especially in 3D, maybe we'd get a proper 3D Pokemon game =3.
Before you insult someone you should walk a mile in their shoes.
That way when you do, you are a mile away and have their shoes.
I've played most all of the Pokemon games. I actually managed to get 151 Pokemon on Blue, beating the game. Used a gameshark to get Mew. By now though the battery has died and I lost all the old saved data in Blue through Silver. Silver was probably the best game though.
I'm looking forward to playing this new one during the summer.
