it's bad
trying too hard
i found it offensive and unoriginal
mudslinging at its worse
it sounds like "can laughter", or an audience trying too hard to find it funny

Please tell me this show is a fucking joke. I didn't even grin at one bit of that clip. It had all the style and finesse of a fucking high school newscast with double the shitty forced laughter.

(LOL! Fox News! Cause Republicans don't know it's garbage!)

It's sad, because they do point out things that have humor in them, and if delivered competently it could be fun. But as far as I can see the whole thing is just a "retaliation" against the notably left-wing Daily Show. The difference being, though, that the Daily Show prioritizes being funny, and the leftist nature is just a side-effect of what kind of writers they have, whereas this prioritizes promoting Republican beliefs, and the humor (such as it is) is simply tacked on at the end.

No. Just no. It's not funny, without that laughter it WOULD be a whole lot funnier, and still be plain dumb (can you imagine how unfunny it is now).

I don't see how it's much different than those other shows. I have very conservative parents, and very liberal friends, so I never pick sides and try to remain as open as possible, and leftist parody news shows and this show are both pretty much the same to me. I can see humor in both, as well as bitterness, bias, hatred, etc., and I bet you anything my parents would find this amusing. There's plenty of stuff on the Daily Show that I've seen that feels just as mean-spirited and full of personal attacks as that clip on Barack Obama. It's a matter of what and who you think is "correct" and who we can make fun of because they're "wrong", and I've noticed a lot of young people who have grown up always assuming that liberals are inherently "cooler" than conservatives have this idea that it's a matter of opinion.

They're opinionated shows, and there's bad on both sides, and some humor, too, depending on who you are.

The canned laughter is rather annoying, though, but the whole presentation seems awkwardly tongue-in-cheek enough to make me think they might also be trying to actually make fun of the Daily Show itself, too.

what the fuck?
it's like a twilight zone episode

it's a discussion board (as seen in CNN), except the audience are laughing loudly for stupid reason. it makes me imagine the light going off "boo" "laugh" "clap" in the studio

it's funny the way they don't wanna be labeled a racist show when they turn to a black guy to point out that obama is black.

oOoooOOo I are smart

stupid words that people laugh on the clip
"what do we really know about obama?"
"masses?"
"a cigarette smoker"
"will we still love him tommarrow?"
"we don't know him becuase he has brown skin"
"would you vote for a smoker for pres?"

audience start to boo and angry
"obama connects with america"

who would watch this show? other than people who would like to see something really stupid

Points to consider
Daily Show:
-Audience Doesn't Always laugh because they think about it. It's even funnier to see Jon turn all red and hide his face sometimes.
-May take a little while to get the jokes.
-Daily Show also makes fun of leftwing people.
-Daily Show has more intellectual humor.
-They don't just do government issues.
-Disappointing name, great show
1/2 Hour News Hour
-Great name, somewhat disappointing show
-Take themselves too seriously
-The audience is on cue as if they had a .44 at each of their heads
-I get the jokes, I just don't care enough about politics to laugh.

Some of us are in the generation that don't really take sides *winks at suzi*
but I think the show would have the potential to be less of a conformity wagon and more of a funny show if it got off it's high horse and told some jokes without forcing it into the viewer's brain. If anyone's ever seen that Simpson's episode where they go to Shelbyville and they see the play about Shelbyville and it's just one big ego trip... that's exactly what the show feels like.

I'm a chauvinistic whore, why hello there, Sally.

The main point about Obama is actually a good one: He's a young guy who's come from virtually no where politically and it looks like he might be a prime presidential candidate.

The trouble is that it's not that funny, and once you've pointed it out where do you go? They don't go anywhere, they have nothing... It's just plain dull. Yep, the Daily Show is clever and funny, this is just a Bizarro-World copy.

Wow...that might have been the worst thing I've ever seen. Canned laughter, a delivery that totally sucks, and absolutely no talent in the entire show. I would have thought there would have been at least a few conservative comedians and writers out there that could have made this funny, but no. They really aren't trying.

It is interesting to note how the comedy industry, for the most part, leans to the left. There's just something about liberally minded people that seems to lend itself more to humorous endeavors. Not to say that there aren't conservative people who are funny, they're either just very rare or, for whatever reason, prefer not to let that part of themselves shine.

Actually, when they start booing, the words "Obama is a harsher critic of Iraq War than Clinton" show up on the screen. They keep booing even after it goes off the screen, though. It seems rather forced to me. No REAL audience would have that negative a reaction to that statement. What I find more laughable is the kind of crap Fox news feeds it's viewers even when it isn't trying to be funny.

That second part is like regular Fox News except with a laugh track and they actually have black people in it.

I'd agree with that. But also, to be fair, TDS makes fun of Dems, too.

I think the difference is that The Daily Show is a comedy show that employs a lot of liberal-minded people. If they find humor in something that a democrat does they'll make fun of it, because making democrats look good isn't their agenda; being funny is. The 1/2 hour news hour, though, is a Republican show that attempts to use humor to forward its agenda.

The problem is that programs like The Daily Show were made in response to the deluge of rightwing talk radios shows and right wing political commentary on TV in the US, at least that's what I've heard... This dumb show is just being made in response to another comedy show. That's amazingly lame... Not to mention completely unnecessary.

I mean, you've got stuff like The Daily Show holding a candle against the vast darkness of all consuming conservatism and general moronic apathy, and what does that other show do, what's it's role in life? To copy another TV show in a rightwing way. It has no purpose. There's no reason for it. And it's not even amusing.

Yeah, someone linked me to this a day or so ago. It has potential, but right now it feels like a show filmed to air on the local college station by students. If they want it to go anywhere, the first thing I'd suggest they do is can the two "news anchors" for someone who can actually deliver humor lines.

I dunno. I didn't smirk once the entire time I was watching it, except at the end, and that was in a confused "wtf did I just watch?" sort of way.

jon stewart does a lot of good

by using a show and labeling it as a "comedy show",
people get entertained and yet he's still able to hit hard issues,
sometimes even harder than most shows that calls themselves "news" or "debating programs"

jon was on crossfire telling them that their show is not performing a function other than sucking up to politicians and are being used as spin machines.

Speaking of Fox News, a conservative friend of mine had it on the other day and Ben Stein was on. Ben Stein is a very Republican guy, but he was talking about taxing the rich in order to help our economy. The Fox News guy interviewing him got super pissed off, and started going "Yeah? Well I think all those cutsey little New York Times Articles you've been writing have made you liberal! I think I see a chain and sickle on your forehead!"

It was crazy.

It seemed that fox news said " Ok everyone thinks we are run by the republicans. How can we re-enforce that?"

I caught a few clips, all the jokes are pretty much jabs at liberals. But mostly Obama, its amazing that they managed to make a whole show about attacking a presidental hopeful.

and all their laughs seem to sound EXACLY the same....hmmm
