Hey all,

I'm such a slacker when it comes to posting up fanart and my own gallery of art.

Does anyone know of a website that's good for posting up art (other than Photobucket). I know there are some out there that record how many views a picture gets and lets people comment on pictures (but I can't remember what hosts people were using).

Can anyone recommend any sites that have similar features (and are free)?

Um...Deviantart is the only one I can think of.

Yeah deviantart is pretty good. If it's fantasy and stuff like that you could check out Elfwood too.

They're both free as far as I know.

The problem with dA is that I can't segregate my pictures into different sections, like fanart by others, my fanart/original art (as far as I know).

Get a gallery at http://nightgig.com/. You have to set up your own html there, but it's a GREAT site for art and comics. Just request a studio, the guys are cool. That's where I have my comics mirrored, I've also got my fanart there as well as my Pinky gallery and other extras.

When you submit your art to DA you pick a category for it that states just that; whether it is fanart, or original art, digital or traditional etc... and you can view your gallery and choose only to look at your fanart pics or only your original art pics as well. You just go to your gallery, and there's a button for 'categories', select that and from the menu you can go through the options that you did upon submission, and view only those types of artwork in your gallery.

No it does not separate them into separate 'folders' but by nature the images you submit are all segregated by their category.

While there are lots of free scripts that do this, the closest gallery I've found to what I think you are looking for is www.side7.com. Its one of the few I've seen that actually allow you to seperate your images into different categories and only display those images within the category, which are accessable from your 'main' page which is a biography/info page. Although, its been a bit sluggish in the past, I'm not sure about its speed now.

Hope that helps.

And out of all the farescape beauties you like the red head best?!

My fave is Arron Sung and then the blue gal... Can't recall the names right now... Not the big blue bald lady from the early episodes; the little blue one with the funy hair. Or is she grey?

haha
actually that pic was used for a forum post, but the funny thing is that if you google image search the actress name "raelee hill" (pg2 of medium images) that picture pops up. and i got a few hits on my site cause of that pic. so i decide to keep it on there just for that.

I think I'll go with Imageshack!

ozone: nightgig seems pretty cool. Not quite what I was looking for though. I just want a simple gallery site. And I think she was blue. "Chianna" or something similar. She was pretty darn cool. I wonder what she looks like without all that makeup.

subcultured: Ha. My photobucket account is so disorganized right now that I want to keep it for my picture dumping ground. Its works well that way. Plus it doesn't allow people to comment, which would be a nice feature. I like interactivity, even if it means the comments will mostly be by me, myself and I.

LunarYouko: That's true about the categories. Only problem is I can't create my own categories (like giftart from others etc). If I could, I'd just use my existing dA account. It would save me from having a web presence that's spread over a gazillion galaxies.

ShadowsMyst: Hmmm. That site seems the most like what I've been looking for. It still seems a tad slow for loading times, but I'll definitely check it out. (sidenote: Super! I'm glad you're still on DD. Now I can have my Brymstone fix again.)

Wolfer: I'm not too partial to Elfwood. The page design doesn't appeal to me and it looks pretty disorganized. I'm such a web snob.

Thanks for the help, peeps!

Yes, that is a very good point. I didn't read the part about posting art from other artists as well.

Elfwood has never given me anything but problems, so I gave up on them years ago. =\ I don't know if they've improved, but it used to be that you had to wait several days (if not weeks!) to have your art manually approved every time you wanted to post something. That was for every piece you posted. Add onto that the fact that they decided to randomly delete my gallery (the whole gallery, not just a picture or two!) not once, but twice, and didn't bother to give me a reason either time - and you won't ever see me posting there again, nor recommending it to anyone. =\

Although honestly I can't think of anywhere that hasn't been mentioned here that has all of the features you want. Most art sites I've come across (like DA, Side7, etc) won't let you post other's artwork, even if they let you display categories.
