For the record, I think if some moron wants to pay half a million dollars for something not even tangible, then I say let him - and let some other smarter person get those profits.
I say: impose a tax on the stupid, any sale that goes over a decent car gets a 10% retard tax. This stops everquest, suv's, and fuck heads who like twinkies too much, then all the money is sent to GIVE PEOPLE FREAKIN' FOOD!
simple, no?
oh and for the record, no, the government is not exempt from this.
When I got to the part in the article that discussed the SA people aggressively driving down "land" prices and participating in terrorism, do you know what came to mind first, before anything else? I'll tell you: Fight Club. These guys are fighting the system, and I can only wait until they watch the city fall to ruins with The Pixies playing in the background.
I wish them the best of luck with their nonviolent, escapable terrorism. I only wish all terrorism was like this.
That sounds cool. I heard about SL a few months ago when someone stole all their user passwords...
I made an account to see what it was all about, with a character called Tater Ahmed!
I made him look a bit like me, gave him big hair, super wide flares, cowhide black and white high-heeled cowboyboots and a cowhide black and white shirt. Then I strutted about bashing into all the other newbies...
It's SO dull.
Then I went to an empty sex-club, got bored, left, tried to visit an exclusive "walled" of area obviously owned by a bunch of "rich" (stupid) players. And finally I broke into someone's penthouse, made Tater Ahmed sleep in their bed and logged out for good!

lol I tried it only once too. I made an account and I called myself Aurora_Moon (how typical of me, right?), andI dressed myself up like a young japanese blue-haired girl and stuff like that. had a werid-looking hat on.
I just wandered around, and man the people were dull. all the worlds were dull. even the strip clubs weren't that intersting. I wish I had at least came across people having sex like in the video. and then I just logged out.

Exactly! It's like a really crappy super-cheap MMORPG with terrible graphics and heaps of lag, minus ALL the fun RPG game elements!
Plus, if you want anything the least bit "cool" (I use that term advisedly), you have to pay for every single thing with real money!
yeah. it wasn't really an game, but more like a 3d virtual chat.
but... there's other 3d virtual chats out there that's much better and more interactive. take IMVU...
at least that one gives you a chance to earn your credits (playing the freespin game each day) without having to pay for anything, even if they do have a "pay" feature where you get to pay to get credits. and now they just have an feature where you can actually buy an blank home and decorate it with stuff with the free credits you have, without having to pay real money for it..

Yes, a MMORPG, stripped of anthing good and turned into a "chat program"... Basically you could have the same type of social interaction in a MMORPG, but have a lot more fun and a better overall experience.

I do support the SL "terrorists" however!
Yeah. I've seen a lot of people use the mmorpgs out there for sole social purposes.. you know, the type that goes:
"Hello there!!" while running around killing stuff near you and then sitting down to chat some more. "How are you this fair day/night? Having a fun time, I hope!"
and basically just wanders around talking to people and stuff like that.
I was like that at one point too, I must confess.
but I think the problem with most people who wants something that's fun in an soical, "real-feeling" evomovment is that a lot of mmorpgs out there sometimes doesn't allow for an relaxed, casual conversation setting... because a lot of the time random people are running by, talking about how they wanna sell something or buy something, or just running after monsters to kill and stuff. and secondly, a lot of morpgs don't really allow for the "mix'n'match" items where it allows you to customize your own character to look truly unique. I mean, some games basically allows for hairstyle changes and hair color changes, but that's it. and others allows for skintone, clothing changes but no hairstyle changes at all! and some doesn't even offer that feature.
also, some games allows you to have your own house and to customize it competely so that you people can have a spot to chill out in and chat... again, not every morrpg has that.
and the third problem with an mmorpg for the most social person--you get the people who's mostly focused only on levelling up and killing... nothing about the social element of the game even resisters with them....
so that's why I think just an 3d chat progam would be best for those types of people, where they can get thier own "house", customize it to thier liking, dress up thier avatar and make thier 3d avatars look like anything they want it to be.. even an furry if they wish. and they can just hang out and chat to thier heart's content. IMVU would be better for those types of people.
I adore IMUV for those reasons.. and while I think some built in games like maybe checkers and stuff would be fun, I would rather wait until they fix the loading and lag problem first.
