Anyone see this? The return of one of the best adventure games ever, in episodic format. It's available now via GameTap, or as most of us know it, WorthLess, or available from the developer's website November 1st. You can get one episode for 9 dollars I believe, or the whole season (6 episodes I think) for around 25 dollars. I'm not sure about those numbers except the 9 for an episode.
The only problem I've heard is that the original VA's aren't back for it, which may seem odd to people like me who are so used to Sam and Max's original voices. They say Max's is closer than Sam, but I also don't think that would be hard.
Also, now you don't have the "Grab, Use, Talk" things. You just select an item from the inventory and then what to use it on. HOWEVER, now you can pull out Sam's gun whenever you feel like it and shoot things to solve puzzles or just make hilarious things happen.
So, who's looking forward to this as much as I am?
Also, Rich, I would normally agree, but with this episodic format it's stupid to print each one. I can guarantee that the SiN series won't be printing discs for episode 2-whatever. They sold horribly in stores, but were a blockbuster from downloads.
Also, I think the episodic format is perfect for Sam and Max. Other adventure games maybe not, but S&M (lawl) seem to fit it with ease.
Oh, yeah, that. I know with the whole season being available via one payment, I'm sure that they'll release a disc version of it. Hell, I'll buy it again, just because I love Sam and Max that much.
Wait, is this just a reissue of the old Lucasarts game? 'cos I have that and can play it on my XP machine already (someone wrote an exe to make it work). I wanted the new game, the one Lucasarts started and then dumped and then supposedly was bought by someone else so they could finish it.
No, it's the first part of the new one. They decided to take the lameass 'episode' nature all the PC games are trying to pull. Of course, I'm hoping like hell they release the complete thing in stores once they finish all the episodes.
It isn't working for me either now. The site may be down.
If you google Sam and Max you can see it there, though.
And Rich, normally I would agree on the episode thing being stupid, but as I mentioned, I think this really works for this series. Mainly because Sam and Max would make more sense to be a few smaller cases, nothing epic. No offense to all the freelance police out there.
But even the entire game of Sam and Max Hit the Road was just about a country star kidnapping freaks. Sooo, yeah. Episodes FTW.
(I still think SiN episodes/HL2 episodes are dumb as shit)
EDIT: There's a trailer on their site as well, once it's up. The voices actually aren't bad. Max sounds almost exactly the same. Sam is a bit different, but similar. He doesn't sound out of character or anything.
Skoolmunkee, with that current avatar of yours, you look like you're not excited about anything.... though I already know from the past that you do like Sam & Max.
I also like Sam & Max. Based on the reactions of others who get it, I might get it. The folks who make Sam & Max are hoping to get a game for them on the Wii. I'm also interested in that.
