Ok, so I'm technically not doing any comics at the moment (but give me some time!) but I was going to suggest a way for authors to somehow disable voting on their comic. I think that would be awesome, though I don't know if it will be a popular idea with anyone else.
See, I like the drunkduck community and all the things it has, and I was here before the crash and got to know a lot of people, so I wouldn't want to go to another place and have to re-meet people. I like the comment system, and the voting system is really a good idea, but I think I'd like it a lot more if I had the ability to turn voting on and off while still being able to get criticism and citiques and learn how to better myself. Of course, there would have to be a limit to the times you could do this so people couldn't abuse it. I also understand that it would probably be hard to impliment.
I understand that the people wouldn't be able to be included in the Top 50 Comics box, but they could still get views and be on the 50 Most Viewed box. I'd also like to note that I'm not suggesting this so that people can put up awful comics and just disable voting (because why would voting affect them anyways). I'm talking disable votes for the whole comic but still enable comment.s
Or... am I an idiot and you guys put that up while I was in hybernation, and now I'm going to feel like a total dummy when everyone tells me they've already done it or have decided they never will? I also hope there aren't any other threads on the same topic, but you have to excuse me, I'm only human afterall.
The way things are set up now, votes have no impact on anything at all, so weather you have then enabled or not doesn't really matter.
Oh, if you only have about 10 pages up and the comic is brand new, then the right votes will mean that it'll get into the "top 50" or not, but after thet it never will again. That's how it works now, only new comics go into the top 50, so fuctionally votes are meaningless.
Interesting! I never knew that the votes didn't have any relevance yet. I appreciate the knowledge and feel like a dumb newb, but I'd rather ask and be a newb for five minutes than stay silent and be a newb forever.
