Chapter 1: Chucha and Koto
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a warm summer day; there was a cool breeze that swept over a small boy and his traveling companion. The small boy smiled at the sight around him. There were many types of trees, each giving off their own scent. And there were many pretty flowers, and their scents made everything smell so much better, and raised the spirit of the small boy. The dirt path in front of them was long and going downhill. They seemed to be heading down towards a lake.
The boy wore a very complex kimono on him. It was all different shades of blue, with small pink flowers. Underneath his kimono, he had just plain white shorts, he was glad he did just in case his companion decided to try and knock the boy down, and take his body right there. The boyâs companion had just a plain, very dark grey kimono on himself.
âHEY CHUCHA!!! HURRY UP AND STOP BEING SLOW!!!,â Chuchaâs traveling companion yelled to Chucha. His traveling companion was a good distance ahead of poor little Chu.
âKoto!!! Wait up for me!!!,â Chucha yelled, running as fast as he could, downhill, to catch up to Koto. Chucha tried to stop before tripping over a rock, but he was unsuccessful. Chu tripped, and fell face first onto the ground, a few feet in front of Koto. Chu was basically on his knees, with his butt sticking straight out into the air, and his face on the ground, with his arms straight out in front of him.
Koto smirked at this, he quickly walked over to Chu, and then bent down to whisper in Chuâs, âHey Chu⦠Stay like that, and your ass will be mineâ¦â
Chu gave out a little yelp, and quickly got to his feet, âKoto! Thatâs not funny!â Chu said, unhappy with Koto.
Koto stood back up, and gave a quick chuckle, âMaybe not for youâ¦â Koto walked up close to Chu. He put a finger underneath Chuâs chin. He pushed up, making Chuâs head tilt up more. âBut it was trueâ¦,â Koto said quietly, then gave Chu a soft kiss. Immediately afterwards, he dropped his finger, and continued to walk down their previous path. Koto left a stunned Chu, standing there.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After about two minutes of standing there dazed, Chu snapped back to reality. Chu quickly looked around to see where Koto was. Chu could see Koto far down the hill. âKOTO!!! DONâT LEAVE ME BEHIND!!!,â the small boy yelled after the older man.
Koto smirked, then he stopped in his tracks. He looked up the hill to see Chu running after him, âYou better hurry up Chu! ⦠Because if you donât tonight, that ASS is MINE!â Koto yelled at Chu, smirking. When Chu heard that, he ran even faster, looking down, to make sure not to trip over any more rocks. He was paying so much attention on not tripping, he wasnât watching where he was going. Chu ran straight into Koto. âHey cutieâ¦,â Koto said with a seductive tone to his voice, when Chu looked up to see what he ran into.
Chu jumped at the sound of Kotoâs voice, Chu thought that he had ran into a tree. Chu looked down, tried to catch his breath, after that scare. When Chu looked back up, Koto was walking away, but was only about a foot or two away.
âCome on Chu, at this pace weâll get there after night fall,â Koto said, aggravated that it was taking so long to get there. Chu caught up with Koto, and they began to walk towards their destination. Chu didnât even know where they were going.
After about an hour of walking, the two travelers arrived at their destination. It was a smaller clearing in the woods, and there was also a very pretty lake. The lake was HUGE. You could barely see the other side, all you could make out was a bunch of very tall trees.
Chu quickly ran up to the water, and splashed some in his face, and smiled. Chu turned around smiling, to see Koto smiling at him, a small blush went over Chuâs soft pale skin. But it quickly disappeared.
âYou like it Chu?,â Koto said, Chu quickly nodded in response. âGood! You get to set up camp then!,â Koto said smirking. Koto threw the bag he had carrying on his shoulder to Chu. Chu barely caught it, and it almost sent him falling into the water. Chu heard a metal noise, which he assumed, had to be the tent poles.
âDo I have to, Koto?,â Chu whined, just wanting to strip down to his white shorts, and go for a good swim in the huge lake.
Koto walked over to the small boy, and smirked, âHow many times do I have to use this threat before you just do what I say?â Koto smirked again, âEither you do it OR your ass is MINE!â
Chu jumped a little bit, then ran off to go set up the tent. He looked for a place that had hardly any bumps in the ground, and no rocks. Once he had found a spot, he cleared the area of any twigs, sticks, or any small rocks. Chu then began to set up the tent. It took him about an hour to set it up, it was difficult for him. He kept messing up where everything went.
Eventually, he had finished his job. Chu stood up, wiping the sweat from his forehead. Chu quickly took off his kimono and threw it inside the tent, while Koto went inside of it. Koto paid no attention to the boy. Chucha quickly ran into the freezing cold water. Chu dove in, it felt good to him. He was hot from working in the sun.
After a good twenty minute swim, Chucha got out of the water. When he heard Koto from inside the tent, calling for him, wanting him to come inside the tent. Chu sighed as he shook himself to get most of the water off. He then went inside the tent.
âWhat Koto-,â Chu said, but he got cut off as Koto wrapped his arms around Chu's waist from behind and the boy blushed slightly. " Your ass is mineâ¦" He whispered huskily in Chu's ear.
Chu felt shivers rush up his spine. "K⦠Kotoâ¦" He murmured softly. Then Koto kissed as hard as he could manage at that angle, working his way down Chu's jaw and neck.
Chu moaned lightly, even if he didnât love Koto as much as he loved Zatucha, anyone would have moaned at that. Even then he could feel himself getting hard. Koto's hand strayed across his chest.
Suddenly Koto couldn't get Chu out of Chuâs shorts fast enough. His shorts were thrown across the tent. Then Koto started taking off his kimono, kissing Chu the instant he was out of the kimono. They tumbled over to the bed Koto had made. Then Koto's lips were moving across Chuâs chest, playing with the nipple on one side.
Chu felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up as Koto's eyes raked him over hungrily. Koto started to rub Chuâs member, making Chu moan a little bit. Chu looked up at Koto with those eyes that cared.
"I'll be gentle. I promise." Koto whispered into his ear.
"Iâll only let you... If you are gentleâ¦" Chu said softly, shyly.
Koto carefully turned Chu over and whispered in his ear. "You honor me... now relax your lower body." He whispered huskily.
Chu forced his muscles to relax, his heart hammering in his chest. Koto carefully worked his way to Chu's entrance and pushing a finger inside.
"Nnngg...," Chu moaned.
"Iâm not hurting you am I?," Koto said, smirking.
"N... no..." Chu muttered into the bed.
A second finger joined the first, and Koto bent over Chu, kissing the back of his neck tenderly as he scissored his fingers inside of him, stretching, slickening. Then he pushed deeper, carefully searching for the spot that would make Chu scream in pleasure. "Call for me." He murmured huskily in Chu's ear as he stroked the other's prostate lightly.
"Koto!" Chu almost came on the spot.
But then the other started nibbling on his ear. "Not yet... I want to come with you. I want you to scream for me." Koto's low growl was feral and Chu felt his hair stand on end and his erection throb.
"Koto... mm..." Chu mumbled incoherently. "Please... please..." He begged.
Koto carefully his fingers out quickly. "Please what?"
"Take me..."
"I will..." Koto promised. He positioned himself outside of Chu's entry, pressing his length against it. He wrapped his arms around the other.
Chu squirmed, moaning beneath him. "Just do it dam nit!" He howled.
"If you want to that badly." Koto's breathe husked in his ear. Koto trusted into Chu in one swift motion.
Chu gasped at the sensation, the pleasure filling him up. Koto's touch inside of him made his insides tingle with pleasure. He gasped, head thrashing back and forth as he moaned. "Koto..." The name just tumbled from his lips.
"Hmm... Chu." Koto murmured in his ear. Koto then leaned down, pressing his body against Chu's back, then wrapping his arms around him, stroking Chu's chest while the body beneath him adjusted to the intrusion. His lips worshiped the neck and shoulders they could reach, murmuring such lovely things in his ear. Warmth started to spread to Chu's limbs, moving up his spine from the site of the intrusion.
Koto waited until Chu started to wriggle against him. Then he started thrusting, gently, tenderly, in and out, leaving fire in his wake. Chu gasped, "K... Koto!" Digging his fingers into the mattress the younger boy moaned, trying to buck upwards at the other's thrust. His hips were pinned, though Koto felt the movement.
Then Koto found it again, Chu's prostate, he thrust against it, nuzzling the spot before pushing as deeply as he could. "Call for me..."
Chu screamed it this time, "KOTO!"
Koto pounded into him, Chu screaming his name with every thrust as power and lust lashed their way around the tent. Koto's lips seared across his neck and shoulder, worshipping every inch of flesh they could reach. "Howl for me... Chu..." Koto's voice was hoarse with lust in his ear.
"KOTO!!!!" Chu screamed as he came. He came, hard, into the bed, his body writhing around Koto, spasming, milking the other for all the energy and seed he could give.
Koto groaned as well, kept trusting harder and harder. He didnât care about Chu, at the moment. At that moment Chu knew that Koto was going to keep going. Chu struggled, eventually he got the older man off of him. He got to his feet, and grabbed his kimono.
âI believed⦠that you wouldnâtâ¦. you just never changeâ¦,â Chu said, balling his eyes out. Chu ran out of the tent. He quickly and sloppily put his kimono on and ran. Chu kept on running until he came to this âromanticâ spot. It was beautiful, he just wished that he had his Zatty there with him.
part II
Meanwhile on the other side of the lake
âCome on Zatty!!!,â Riamaku said wining, while tugging on Zatuchaâs arm, lightly. Riamakuâs chest was covered with a really tight, dark blue t-shirt, with some swirl-like shapes in a lighter shade of blue. It was so tight it showed off his chest muscles. He wore black pants that were tight around him waist and each ankle, but other than that they were poofy; and also VERY comfortable. His goal was to try to get Zatty to at least fall in love with him again.
âI donât want to go with you to this lake!,â Zatty yelled at Ria. Ria continued to tug on his arm, hard; but not hard enough to hurt him. Zatty had simple a dark green, almost black, samurai kimono; without the sword, of course. Zatty didnât want any of his good clothes to get all dirty, and messed up on this trip.
âPlease come with me, Zatty?,â Ria said, giving Zatty the puppy eyes. Ria looked oh so very innocent âI promise that I wonât force you to do anythingâ
Zatty sighed, he tried to figure out if Ria was lying, but looking in Riaâs eyes. But, to his disappointment, did find any hint of lying. âFine, but if I tell you to stop, then you must stopâ Zatty said, looking Ria straight in the eyes. Ria nodded nicely in agreement, smiling.
The both of them were traveling to a nearby lake. Ria thought that Zatty need some time away from worrying about Chucha, and it was summer. Summer was the time to relax. They walked together towards their destination. Every once in a while Ria tried to cling to Zattyâs arm, and Zatty had to either shake him off, or tell him to stop. And Ria obeyed, when Zatty told him to stop.
When they got to their destination, they were also in a clearing, by a lake. But Chuchaâs and Kotoâs camp site were on the other side of the lake. Zatty and Ria couldnât even see Kotoâs and Chuâs camp site. Both were amazed at the beauty around them. So many pretty flowers, that gave off the most beauty scent either of them had ever smelled in their lives, before.
âCome and help me set up the tent Zatty!,â Ria said happily, with much love for Zatty in his voice. Zatty sighed unhappily, then went to help Ria with the tent. It took them a while to get anywhere near finishing the tent. Every five minutes Ria tried to sneak a kiss from Zatty. Zatty had to pull Ria off, telling him that he was only interested in Chu.
After about two hours trying to get the tent up, they were finally finished. Zatty gave a quick smirk, proud that they finally finished it. Ria smirked, he stood behind Zatty, he wanted to pounce on him right there and then.
âOh Zattyâ¦.â Ria said with a lust tone to him voice. Zatty turned about to see Riaâs right foot wrapped behind his left foot, and Riaâs arms hanging behind his back. He looked so innocent, that even Zatty had a small blush. Ria took this opportunity to lean into Zatty, giving a soft and gentle kiss. Zatty backed about three steps away from him âR⦠Riaâ¦?â Koto said with a shocked tone to his voice.
Ria grabbed Zattyâs hand in a soft, but tight grip. Ria walked backwards slowly pulling Zatty with him. Zatty had no choice but to follow slowly. Zatty didnât know what Ria was up to⦠yet. Once Ria was at the entrance to the tent, he purposed fell on his back. Ria gave a good tug on Zattyâs hand. Making Zatty fall on top of him. Ria gave a slight smirk of satisfaction, as he quickly wrapped his arms around Zattyâs waist. âKiss meâ¦â Ria demanded.
Zatty glared down at the man beneath him. Zatty quickly stood up, âI told you not to pull that kind of stuff⦠â Zatty turned to walk out, then gave a quick, cold, death glare. Zatty wanted to get out of the presence of Ria. âIâm going for a walkedâ¦.,â Zatty turned back around, âDONâT follow meâ¦â Zatty quickly fled from the place Zatty so desperately want to leave.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zatty stomped off into the forest, angry at Ria. I told him not to do that, and what does he do? ⦠He goes ahead and does it ANYWAYS!, Zatty thought to himself. He let out a deep sigh. Maybe a little adventure would help to clear his mind. Zatty decided that he would follow the edge of the lake, to see if heâd find anything interesting.
After about ten minutes of walking, there was a steep hill downward, and then if came back up. Zatty smirk, HA! I bet I could get over this NO problem! Zatty then set out to do just that. After almost falling into the lake four times in descending the hill, and almost falling one time on the way up the hill, He finally achieved his goal.
Zatty continued on his new journey, he just hoped he would find something at the end of it. The forest started to get a little denser. He could hear a faint noise, from a short distance ahead of him. It had started to get a little bit darker, so there were fireflies. This new place was so pretty. He continued to follow the noise.
As he got closer to the noise, he thought that he identified it as a person crying. He slowly approached the figure. When he got about fifteen feet away from the figure, they both looked at each other. Both of them shocked.
âZ⦠Zat⦠Zattyâ¦?â The crying figure asked, with a little hope in its eyes. Zatty nodded slightly, not believing his eyes. The crying figure seemed to fill up with happiness.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chucha was sobbing his eyes out. He was wonder why he had to be with such a mean person. Who took his body for pleasure, and very rarely defended him from others who took his body. Chu was mad a Koto. âMaybe⦠I am⦠just aâ¦. filthy little whoreâ¦,â Chu said in between his sobs.
Chucha then looked at his beautiful surroundings, âI wish⦠Zatty was⦠hereâ Chu said again in between sobs. Zatucha had always been there for Chucha. And Chucha loved Zatucha with all of his heart. He just wished that he could kiss Zatucha one more time. Chucha still wept. He was around a forest environment, so his hair became green, and grew longer; but it still had the small black highlights in it.
Chu then heard something to his right. He quickly looked over to see someone he didnât expect to be there, Zatucha.âZâ¦Zatâ¦Zatty?,â Chu asked still crying a little bit. He hoped that his mind was not playing jokes with him, which he was pretty sure that it was.
The figure nodded, Chu seemed to become even happier. Like he had fallen in love all over again. The small pond in front of them glistened with the moon. All the pretty colors of the water made Chu feel like he wanted to kiss Zatucha. All the types of trees, made it romantic and set the mood. And to top it all off, there were pretty fireflies. It was the perfect setting for the reunion of Zatucha and Chucha.
Chucha slowly approached Zatucha, making sure not to touch him. âAre you really there Zatty?â Chu questioned.
âWhy donât you feel for yourself?â Zatty smiled at Chu. Even though Chu was dress sloppy and his face was still stained with tear, Zatucha still thought Chucha looked adorable.
âBut--,â Chu thought to himself. He couldnât touch Zatucha without killing him. But wait, didnât get fixed? Chu stretched his hand out slowly, it softly touched Zatuchaâs cheek. Chucha winced, opening his eyes thinking that he would see a dying Zatucha. But Zatucha wasnât dying.
Zatucha grabbed Chuchaâs hand softly, with his own. And with Zatuchaâs other hand, he carefully wrapped it gently around Chuchaâs waist, pulling him gently into him. Chucha looked up at him, crying tears of joy. Zatucha released Chuchaâs hand, to wipe Chuchaâs tears away.
âHey Chu⦠Donât cry⦠Iâm hereâ¦,â Zatucha said comfortingly. Zatucha put his index finger underneath Chuchaâs chin. He used his finger to tilt Chuâs head up towards his own head. Zatty leaned a little closer.
âZatuchaâ¦,â Chucha said happily, smiling.
âChuchaâ¦,â Zatucha said, also smiling.
Zatucha leaned even closer in, they could both feel the otherâs breaths. Zatucha kissed Chu very gently, and soft. But there was also passion and love in it. Chucha blushed immediately. Zatucha and Chucha both closed their eyes, as Chucha kissed Zatucha back. And the moment he did, beautiful green wings came out of the boyâs back.
âBut Chucha and Zatucha held that kiss for a very long time, in their beautiful surroundings,â Takkun-chan closed her book labeled âTakkun-chanâs Nemution Jewel bedtime storiesâ. âSorry little ones, but I cannot finish this story. The rest is to be found out in the original story, all your questions will be answered then. Like, Will Zatucha and Chucha ever finally be together? Make sure to keep checkingâ Takkun-chan smiled to the audience.

Comments: This fiction starts where Mika left off at the end of Book V/Book VI. Slight reminder: Zatucha was just killed. Chucha was pushed off a cliff by Rasha. Feeling very tired, Chuchaâs last words were, âAll I ever wanted was to be happy with the ones I love. But now⦠I⦠Iâm just so tiredâ¦â So letâs get this thing started right?! XD
Chucha drifted to sleep. But it was not a restful slumber. Chucha was plagued by the spirit of Nemution. The blood red soul spoke to his kind, loving heart. âChucha! Let me take over. You wonât feel any more pain. You wonât have to deal with any of these demons or that phoenix who try to kill you anymore!â
Chuchaâs white soul cried. He wanted to be without pain. But he did not want to let Zatty down. But how could he not? He had already killed him! He answered Nemution with tears in his eyes, âBut Koto doesnât hate me! And Zatty even told me he loved me! But then I killed him! Oh God! How could I have done that to the man I love so deeply?! Iâve already killed the man I love. Iâm a horrible person!â Chucha wept as Nemution comforted him.
âItâs not your fault,â said Nemution. âZatucha never really loved you enough anyway. If he did, he wouldnât have left you. But I can heal you. I can let you be pain free if you just switch places with me.â
Hesitantly, Chucha put his face in his hands and cried, âLet it be doneâ¦â
Just then, Chu heard the shout of a familiar voice. It was a soft, warm voice: kind. âNo!!â It shouted to him. Chucha turned to see his beloved Zatucha standing behind him. But it was too late. Nemution had already started the transmission. He was starting to take over Chuchaâs frail body. Chuchaâs soul cowered back in fear. He could not fight the power of Nemution, and he knew it.
Nemution laughed. âThank you for the trade young one!â Zatucha burned like fire. His hair and his eyes were as flames. Quickly, the half-breed shot a blast of fire at Nemution, barely injuring him.
Chucha rushed toward Zatucha, crying. âI thought I killed you! What happened to you?â
âYou could never kill me. Yes, I was dead, but it wasnât your fault. Koto healed me. Why and how, I donât know. I just know I woke up with him standing over me telling me that we needed to save you.â
Nemutionâs soul was strong as ever. He recovered quickly from Zatuchaâs blast. He shot at him beams of light. Zatucha was fast. He blocked the deadly rays. With a flash of green lightening appeared Koto. Before Chucha could even see what was going on, Koto and Zatucha started fighting Nemution together. Kotoâs arrows were swiftly flying from his bow, penetrating the evil soul. Zatucha shot another blast of fire at Nemution. He was finally beginning to be weakened, or so it seemed.
Kotoâs wings shone bright in the darkness. He shot one last arrow, straight through Nemutionâs heart. The red soul, angered and stunned, transformed into a beastly dragon: poisonous scales from head to tail. He spewed his mouth a fiery beam of light that would pierce any and all in its path.
Chucha ran up to Koto. âI have to know! We all might die. I have to know if it is to happen. How did you bring him back? How did you save Zatucha?â Koto looked at Chucha sympathetically.
âIâm sorry, squeaker. I really donât think you want to know.â
âYes I do!â Chucha screamed back at him, half crying. Zatucha was, again, fighting for his life.
âWell, you remember that potion, the Anorion Liquid, that you brought me?â Chucha looked up, not wanting to remember. âThis was very similar. Itâs in the same family. Itâs called the Vitorion Liquid. It shares many of the same ingredients.â
Chucha shouted, âOh God no! You didnât kill Moncha did you?! The main ingredient of the Anorion Liquid was the life blood of a spirit animal!â
âDonât get your panties in a twist! I couldnât kill Moncha! Youâd never forgive me if I did that. No, I used a much less desirable spirit animalâ¦â
âOh Koto you didnât. You couldnât have,â Chucha looked at Koto with a fire burning in his eyes. âZatucha doesnât know, does he? He wouldnât be very happy to hear this.â
âOf course not Squeaker. Now you just worry about yourself here!â He turned away and began to transform into the most beautiful dragon Chucha had ever laid eyes on. It glowed a hue of green. Two sets of wings, one angelic, one demonic emerged from its back.
Chucha ran up to Zatucha, tears beginning to show. âYou cry too much, you know that? Why donât you try and give us a hand?â Zatty tossed to Chucha an item very familiar: a green, glowing sword. Chucha instantly remembered his nightmare and the tower. He began to cry more. But he decided he had to help, and he took Zatuchaâs emerald sword.
When Zatty was still turned away, Nemution sliced Zatuchaâs neck with his poison tail. He screamed in excruciating pain before dropping to the ground in a pool of blood. âNooooo!â Chucha screamed, having seen everything. In an angry trance, Chucha chanted, ânex ut cruentus sempiterna nemution.â Suddenly, Nemution changed back into human form. Chucha charged at him with the emerald sword. He stabbed him in his black heart. Backing away, Nemution fell to the ground. Koto turned back to his demonic. âIâm feeling weak. Why am I feeling so weak?â Chucha asked Koto.
âFool,â Nemution yelled back at him. âYou canât live without me.â Once you have killed me, you have killed yourself as well!â
âI donât give a shit! You killed him! You killed Zatucha. I had only just gotten him back and now heâs dead again.â
âWhatever you say fool. Iâm sick of hearing it now.â Nemution breathed his last breath, the emerald sword still in his chest. With that, Chucha collapsed. Koto ran to him.
âNo. Donât try to save me. You canât. Just please, tell Moncha and Miatomo that I love them. And Koto, I love you too. I really do. Please try to be hapâ¦â with that, Chucha died. Two small tears could be seen in Kotoâs eyes. He was suddenly back in reality. Zatuchaâs body was there. He checked it. Zatucha was dead. Koto was left standing there by the mountainside all alone.
He broke down to his knees and cried, âOh Chucha, why did you have to leave me? I loved you!â
âMom? Mom, wake up. Mommy!â The boy pushed back his reddish-brown hair to get a better look at the woman in front of him. Placing his small hand on the side, he tried to shake her awake, but she wouldnât come around, no matter how hard he tried. She just couldnât be dead, not now. She had promised him that she would take him somewhere he would like soon; that it would be just them and she wouldnât have to leave him to go to work and do whatever it was she did. And now she was on the floor of their apartment, blood spilling out of the gaping hole in her chest where her heart had been minutes before. Now there was nothing but ragged flesh and fragments of splintered bones trying to fill up the opening as best they could. If he looked hard enough, the boy could see the floor on the other side. No matter how much he cried and pleaded, she was already gone. Why now, her son had no idea. Had she done something wrong? Had he? Whatever the case was, she was dead, and her killer was still in the room. The light footsteps from the murderer moving closer to the boy proved it. The boy lifted his tearful face, his breathing turning ragged as he saw the figure glide closer and closer. Reaching to the side, his hand closed around one of his broken, old toys. Picking it up, the boy hurled it through the air at the stranger as hard as he could. âGet away from me!â he screamed, reaching for another object as the killer knocked the first away with a bat of his hand. The murdererâs mouth turned up in a smirk, and the trembling child could see the sharp, white teeth that filled his mouth. Long silver hair caught the light from the moon that filtered through the broken shutters, making the man; for thatâs what he was, even under all that hair, seem like a demon. âWhatâs your name, boy?â The murderer spoke in a silky voice that, under different circumstances, the shaking child would have trusted. But for now, it scared him. âYour name, boy. Unless youâd like to end it all now.â Stammering, the child gave the man what he wanted, âL-L-Legion.â The man laughed, before turning and walking towards the door. As he left the room, he called back to Legion, âI hope youâll be better at keeping promises than your mother was.â As the manâs footsteps grew fainter, Legion found himself alone with his motherâs stiffening corpse.
âStop, thief!â The baker stood outside of the shop he ran, waving his fist in the air at the young thief who had made off with one of his loaves. The young man turned down a side alley and out into a busy square where he slowed down and headed towards the fountain the square was built around. Weaving through people, he found a seat on the stone of the fountain. Sitting down, the thief broke a piece of the bread off and ate it. His grey eyes closed as he savored the first taste of food he had had in two days. Life was hard on the streets, but it wasnât anything he wasnât used to. He was about to take another bite of the bread, when he noticed a disheveled little girl gazing at the bread hungrily. Sighing, he broke off a piece of the bread and handed it to her expectant face. As the meal passed from his hands towards her, her lips broke into a bucktoothed smile and she squealed in glee. A giggle came from his right, where a woman in her early twenties stood, watching them. The girl ran over to her, showing off her prize to her mother. Patting her daughterâs head, she smiled at the street rat. âThank you, Legion,â she said, stepping over to sit next to him, her daughter following as she gobbled down the morsel of bread. âYou didnât have to give her any.â Legion waved his hand at the woman in what onlookers would say was a show of arrogance. âItâs nothing, Selphie. I had enough to share, and Kerry looked hungry,â Legion replied, reaching across Selphie to ruffle Kerryâs auburn hair. Glancing at the clock on the other side of the square, he stood up, brushing a layer of dust off of his tattered tunic. Selphie could see a few of his ribs through one of the holes, but she didnât say anything. Even if she did, she knew the boy would just brush it off and laugh. Heâd been like that since the night his mother died. So Selphie kept her mouth shut as Legion finished fixing himself up. âIâll see you around, okay? I have an important meeting with a fellow that might know where that man is.â Selphieâs eyes widened and she clutched at Legionâs shirt. âYou canât be serious. He killed your mother, Legion! Heâll kill you too.â Legion shook his head, ragged strands of brown and red falling into his eyes. âHe wonât kill me, Selph, âcause Iâm going to kill him first.â Without another word, Legion tugged the cloth out of Selphieâs grasp and jogged into the crowd. In response, Selphie pulled Kerry onto her lap, sighing quietly as she tried to ignore the ache forming in her heart. âPlease be alright, Legion, and come back safe. Please.â Kerry looked up at her mother, sensing Selphieâs distress as only a child could. âWhatâs wrong with Unca Legion, Mama?â she asked, crumbs spilling from her mouth. âNothing,â Selphie replied, smiling for the sake of her daughter. âI hope.â
Legion hurried through the side alleys, skirting the area he had stolen the bread from earlier, and into the harbor district. The smells of salt and rotting fish permeated the air, and fisherman lined the way, either working on their rigs, or selling their catches to the bustling housewives. The midday sun glinted off the water, making it seem brighter than it was along the main docks, but as the boardwalk continued it fell into shabby disrepair and gave off a dismal feeling. The young man trotted down, dodging his way through the crowd until he came to a rundown bar by the name Twin Swords. One of the windows in the front was boarded up, and the roof was missing at least half of its shingles. Pushing open the door, Legion found himself in a low-ceilinged room, lit by dim lamps suspended from the walls, and warped benches strewn every way. A popular hangout for thieves, pirates, and dock scum, the Twin Swords was filled even in midday. Men sat in huddled pairs, whispering and muttering over glasses of watered-down beer and weevil infested food. Licking his lips, Legion slipped through the crowd towards a small booth in the far corner. The lighting grew steadily worse as the boy continued on. Noticing through the haze that his informant was already there, Legion slipped into the seat across from him, making sure that his feet were pointed towards the open floor, in case of a fast getaway. Taking in the other man, Legion noted that his face was obscured by a heavy black hood, and no other noticeable features could be seen from under the cloak the informant wore. A quick huff and Legion was ready. âSo what do you have for me?â He asked, and was answered with a chuckle from the man opposite to him. âWhatâs so funny?â Legion demanded, a hint of anger creeping into his voice. âAre you willing to pay?â The man asked in a silky voice that Legion could have sworn he heard before. Rolling his eyes, the young thief pushed the thought to the back of his mind. âOf course Iâll pay, as long as you have the information I want.â The glimmer of sharp, white teeth beneath the weighty hood flashed, and another memory was stirred up in Legionâs mind, but he again pushed it to the back of his brain. âEven your soul?â The informant asked, calm as he could be without sounding sly. With a gulp, Legion nodded. He wondered what the man could be thinking, asking for his soul. Did he mean to make the youngster into his slave or something? If so, Legion wasnât sure he would be around long enough for his new âmasterâ to break him in. But if it meant getting information on learning who and where his motherâs murderer was, Legion would agree to anything. âGood,â the shade said, lifting a pale, yet graceful hand to push back his hood. Legionâs grey eyes were drawn to the long, sharp nails that extended from the tips of the manâs fingers, painted blue like one of those high-class ladies. As the hood fell, his attention was drawn to the manâs face. The informant was pale, almost translucent, and he had long silver hair that fell down into his cloak. Yellow eyes starred right back at the gaping boy. âI said weâd meet again, didnât I, Legion. And now that youâve agreed to it, your soul is mine.â One of those beautifully manicured hands reached across the table, grabbing Legionâs exposed throat. He couldnât make a noise; the man was too strong. Warm liquid trickled down into his tunic, and it took Legion a little while before he noticed it was his blood. The nails were digging into his throat, and through the haze he could feel one of them scrape his vertebrae. Tearing at the clawed hand that was cutting off his breathe, Legion felt himself start to slip into a dark numbness. Gasping against the pain, he tried to stay afloat, but instead sunk under.
Legionâs grey eyes fluttered open, revealing a large stone cave. Glancing around from where he lay on his back, he could see there was nothing else there; no shelves, statues, debris. Nothing. Sitting up, the young man looked around in defeat. âWhere am I?â A scraping sound from behind him startled the boy, and he turned to see what had made the noise. A handsome albino stood at what looked like a gilded doorway in the rock that Legion could have sworn hadnât been there before, his long nails against the stone. âOn the floor, Legion. Now get up and put something suitable on; those rags annoy me.â Confused, Legion just gaped, and then scrambled up to his feet as he saw the man start to glare at him. âUm, Iâm sorry, but, uh, who are you? I canât seem to remember anything other than my name.â A smirk appeared on the other manâs face, and Legion felt his knees go weak. It wasnât that the man was scary or anything, it was something else that Legion couldnât seem to place. âTemasuru, and Iâll forgive you this time, but I advise you not to forget it again.â Legion nodded before following Temasuru out of the chamber into a brightly lit hall. His wings caught the slow currents of air, fanning out to match his hair. âYes, Temasuru.â Smiling, Legion hurried up to walk side-by-side with his companion.
