Whenever I get trade paperbacks my favorite part is usually the sketches in the back. So I thought I would offer that here by putting up my acrobat related doodles and some concept designs every once and awhile.

Possible character concepts, just screwing around.

So I dug through my pile of sketchbooks because I really wanted to show my early acrobat designs from before I started the comic. I'd been putting off scanning them for awhile. The thing if though that there aren't too many sketches, most of the characters in issue one (there weren't many) were designed as I and Luke drew them so I don't have as many sketches to show as I'd like.

I was trying to figure out how Acrobat's A logo would look.



Trying to settle on a mask design...I'm glad I picked the one I did. Also I briefly considered naming him swift, thank god I threw that idea out.


A full body shot because I thought I'd figured the design out. All of the above sketches were done in the span of like 30 minutes, I was impatient to get to drawing the comic so I rushed it more then I should've. By the time he was actually in the comic his A logo changed and I gave him the shot yellow boots. Oh, and that little head sketch turned into Kid laser. Yeah that's right, my design process for him was a tiny little head sketch.


Early blackhawk, the only thing that really changed about the design in the final was that I shortened the horn things on his mask.


Final Blackhawk and Canary. In retrospect I wish I made the designs just a LITTLE less batman and robin-ish but meh the batmana and robin thing is the point.


Final acrobat...besides the boots and logo. oh and a really weird looking Wade.

Did this one a few days ago...and before I die I need to make an acrobat shirt like that.

you and your light box! ah these are nice you shoulda gone with swift! i have some sketchs and stuff i didn't use for acrobat, but they suck, if you want more i could be bothered to scan and post them >_> and stop by comictalk some time! jerk : P

it's a shame i couldn't use this for the pages where they fight, as its off script and i drew it after i drew the scene it would've worked in ..

this is a 'place holder' i never intended ti use, sort of an insult to injury type piece XD
