This isn't exactly a happy page for Christmas Eve and for that I'm sorry. :/ But I hope you appreciate it none the less, it took a lot out of me.
On a completely different note, may you have a great Christmas, or other holiday you observe, and work to never have things like that happen to humanity ever again.
At least Arthur showed some humanity. Great work with the delivery on this. Even though it's sad at a time for good things, props to you for not being afraid to stick to it. Great storytellers don't always like all of the stories they tell, and here's proof.
Not Gestapo but evidence indicates that was not an uncommon attitude in the typical German soldier. The brutal take -no-prisoners nature of war on the Russian front, plus the indoctrination of German youth since 1933 (or even 1871) and the blind willingness to follow orders as given, even to improvise in new and grisly ways such as this soldier increasing the count by two children so two others will not have to die?
