Luke was created because I needed plot for Brigit's wedding. Suddenly, Yuki had a mysterious former lover that I needed to discuss at some point. I worked backwards, considering Yuki’s personality and why it didn’t work out. I thought maybe he left her at the altar. Then I decided that that was mean, and Yuki needed a *good* boyfriend, so I had her leave him. I figured her mourning could be over the lost opportunity from chickening out (explaining her "live for the moment" attitude towards men). I didn’t decide that Luke was dead until Yuki actually let loose that bombshell on page 364. My thinking was that if he was still alive, he would have to be a conflict character and not a "perfect man," so I decided to off him to preserve his prince charming nature.

After that, brainstorms about who Luke was and what happened to him started flooding my mind. I could give Yuki a nemesis to hunt down and avenge her beloved Luke. Brilliant! Except if that was the case, why wasn't she hunting the killer down? Then it dawned on me that Kaida was the killer. It just made sense. It made Yuki a more interesting character and enhanced the mechanics of their relationship.

As for the Hyacinth/Fair/Wedding/Fireworks plot, that wasn't dreamed of until later. After I decided I wanted to draw all my characters in costume and had the urge to include a fortune teller.

(And yes, he looks a lot like Brad. That was intended as part of the reason Yuki semi-intentionally shuns Brad.)

Lol. I will be using Eric more in the future. I just had to lay some groundwork first for plot and character development. (Plus, the current story arc is really long.)

I use those other "perfect" characters too, you know. Their deaths greatly enhance the plot. XD

Even the way he smiles and looks off camera a bit.... nope, I don't trust him. Can't even see what he may have in his hands.

Sorry, looked at the picture and had to add that. I HAD to XD

Ooops, I mixed things up a bit. He could still be perfect though. Maybe he was saving thousands of children and puppies from a bunch of cyborg Jiros or something. =p

You like finding ways to have these "perfect" characters in the story and never using them much don't you :) Hehe, perfect people are boring and hard to write for. And one person's perfection would be annoying/conflicting to another person.

I'm going to start my own investigation for Yuki to dig dirt up on this guy!!! He's hiding SOMETHING ^_^

Or at least he was :p

Actually, he did. He laughed it off and marked it as an adorable show of Yuki's quirky spirit. (That's why there was a second wedding.) If he had left HER, that would have been a problem. -- Btw, another point to ponder is why she left him at the altar if he was such a great guy. That's why the fortune teller came in so handy, even though I hadn't originally planned her for the purpose.

My bigger issue is that if Luke's still around, regardless of his personality, readers would see him in a negative light as possibly conflicting with Brad (for a similar reason, people aren't keen on Eric) and for the negative impact he had on Yuki. He had to die. There's no place for him in this world. XD -- Plus, Luke's death is a very significant part of Kaida's psychological strife.

(Oh, and as a mini-spoiler, we will see enough death faking without Luke. ~_^ )

HAHA I like the story of the creation of this character and his tragic existence. You know... a character could still have the "perfect prince" attitude even if Yuki left him at the alter.

Especially if he like really puts others above him, he could have thought Yuki had good reasons that may or may not have been BECAUSE of him. That he supports her decisions because of how much he loved her.
Giving himself a bit of time to be saddened and moving on with life with his same normal resolve.

As a hopeless romantic he could still put his heart on his sleeve for the next girl he meets. Then after about 50 of these events he flips out and becomes a maniac that fakes his own death in a super plot to get Yuki back >:-)

Yeah yeah and... okay, I'll stop fandoming up your bio here lol
