| usedbooks | Richard has brown hair and glasses to complete the family resemblance to Seiko. Misaki would have looked cute in glasses too, but I think she has a nice, classy look without them. Richard sort of resembles my own dad, except my dad has (at least when he was younger) red hair.
Misaki had a name early in the story (her name came from the Tenchi Muyo series -- Sasami's mom, I think). I simply grabbed Richard's name out of the air. I was writing a page, and Misaki was addressing him, so he needed a mane. I kept whatever name came out of my pencil.
Btw, Richard gets very little mention in the story, especially so far. Although he had the most influence over Seiko's upbringing, education, and values, Seiko ends up compared only to her mom. The simple reason for this is that these characters knew Misaki but not Richard. Assuming she was a decent musician, even strangers might make connections to Misaki. Richard, however, would be well known by the residents of their home town. If the story ever ends up there, we will hear more about him. -- Another reason Richard hasn't influenced the story much is that he was soft-spoken and uninvolved (Misaki wouldn't allow it). -Posted on Apr 19, 2009 |

| User: usedbooks | | | Lol. I think the "pants" issue is arguable. Misaki was a free spirit, and Richard didn't try to prevent her. (He probably found it charming.) Richard ran the house, made the stable income, had a great deal more influence over their daughter, etc. He probably picked Seiko's school. He managed the finances. In the circus flashback, we saw him interrupt Misaki to take her home. She is more significant in this story but had very little influence in her family (not that Richard was an iron fist; Misaki just wasn't around).
The stuffed toy is arbitrary. I drew a teddy bear; it turned into a mouse, then a cat. I figure he's a dad and a doctor, so he probably has toys around for comforting kids. -Posted on Apr 20, 2009 | | User: JustNoPoint | | 5 | Heh, seems Misaki wore the pants in the relationship.
