| usedbooks | Shortly after I introduced Tucker as Seiko's "police friend" from her hometown, I got the brilliant idea to make him her adopted dad. It was a period of Seiko's life I hadn't really considered in depth, but I needed to fill in. (Since Seiko was in college when her parents died, I figured she could essentially live in college, but as a minor, she still needed a guardian.) One brainstorm followed another and I made him the chief detective investigating the Toriumi murder -- which was primarily to elicit the "oh crap" reactions from Kaida.
"Getting rid of him" was for the sake of Kaida's sanity. It was basically an easy out for me when Kaida had reached a state when she was ready to confess all her wrongdoings and accept her fate. I pulled a 1-2 punch. I distracted her with Conrad and then eliminated the source of her greatest concern. She might have still confessed but not when Seiko was in such an emotional state (that's why a death was so crucial). So Seiko mourned, returned, and everything went back to semi-normal -- except that I brought Raidon and Meredith out of prison while she was away to issue in a whole new source of conflict and plot development.
Tucker and Carter died at almost the exact same time in order to up the sadness but also to play down Carter's strange, seemingly natural death. There are other reasons too... Tucker/Carter/Conrad/Violet were set up as their own sort of side-plot. They have only been subtly connected through apparent coincidence so far. -- But I've said too much already. :X -Posted on Apr 15, 2009 |

XD Actually, she was raised almost entirely by her dad because her mom was sort of missing most of the time. (Misaki's bio is next! She's one of my favorite dead people!)
I already feel bad for revealing things to my sister and friends, ruining my story impact. I use them for bouncing brainstorms off. They know who has been marked for death. They know who Conrad is. They know what has become of Yuki's bike. You could have always had Seiko raise herself in the woods by some forest creature.
Maybe a sloth or a shy monkey :P
