| usedbooks | Ronnie appears on page 1 of the comic. Like Ms. Taney and so many others, I didn't intend to expand on that faceless, nameless guy, but since he worked with Tristan (originally another nameless page filler), I couldn't help but develop him.
I designed Ronnie as a foil (and originally a nemesis...) for Tristan. They have the same build, similar hair, same career, and worked together. Ronnie, however, is the antithesis of everything Tristan believes in. Ronnie's only real goal is wealth. Greed drives him. He's not a sadist like Meredith, but he has no remorse or empathy for other people. He couldn't care less whether they live or die; as long as he gets the biggest cut possible. It's kinda weird for the single-minded freelancer to hook up with Raidon, but I think it helps characterize Raidon as a man who is very good at tailoring his offers to his recruits. (Contrast to the motivations that drive Kaida, Fudo, or even Meredith.)
Ronnie was originally supposed to be Tristan's nemesis, but Alex ended up taking him on. It seemed like the best way to resolve and tie together the plots I was writing at the time (the treasure hunt, the book, Kaida’s date). -Posted on Apr 11, 2009 |

Heh. I think most of the thieves in town are scared of him despite his being foiled by a teenager. Ronnie is a pretty ruthless back-stabber.

I think Tristan would be a more even match for Ronnie than Alex. Of course, I also set Meredith up as Mike's nemesis. I am the queen of the fair fight, no?
