My friends and I were discussing family structures. We decided that to make her tough, Yuki needed a large family, she needed to be the youngest, and all her siblings were brothers who tormented her (making her into a bit of a scrapper but also ultra-girly as her mom's only baby girl). That was easy to decide. It was also easy to decide Seiko was an only child, facing her childhood tragedies alone. As for Kaida, I decided that she needed a sibling (so she wouldn't be an only child, because that's overdone), I settled on a sister. I went back and forth on the older/younger debate and finally decided she needed a twin. Kaida is, of course, the "evil twin." That she also had a brother wasn't decided until I actually drew the robber holding up the bookstore. (Tristan not only rewrites my plot; he actually invented himself. :-P )

Violet isn't based on anyone real -- not originally anyway. I simply designed her to be a complete opposite to Kaida and an overachiever that no one wants for a sister. I made her a prosecutor to further separate her from her siblings (the multiple-murderer and wannabe outlaw). My own sibling relationships came into play along with my dad's stories of growing up with a twin brother and the twin brother friends I had in high school. Violet's character initially emerges through the filter of her siblings' recollections, which casts her in an unfairly negative light. Each time Violet appears in person, she becomes a more endearing character despite her unbearable cheerfulness. And since she makes Tristan and Seiko extremely uncomfortable and creeps Kaida out with her smothering sisterly love, it is fun to include her. ~_^

As we see Violet as more of a protagonist, I do see some of my sister in her. Actually, my sister is the one who pointed out her similarities to Violet.

Actually, I always thought her face looked like Tristan as a drag queen. XD I decided to make her a plump version of Kaida with curly hair (probably a perm, since both Verona parents have/had straight hair).

So you've caught on to my writing habits! Violet's divorce was mentioned in passing by her brother. (It wasn't planned, but Tristan decided to write that in.) My guess is it was a high school/college sweetheart that couldn't handle her overwhelming personality.

I never thought about it before but Violet and Eric would get along very well. Violet doesn't live in the same city, so she hasn't met many of the main cast. (She lives in Seiko's hometown.)

For a twin she looks totally different. It's crazy what an extreme make over can do to a character design.

Was once married eh? You don't think she ALSO married Fudo or his good twin do you? ;-)

I'm sure you'll figure out which character she was married to eventually. Maybe she should support a certain someone in the run for mayor... or even run herself to try and make sure the "bad guys" that deserve to stay in jail get to do so!
