| usedbooks | I loved this pair from the beginning and kept wanting to use them again, but the chance didn't come up for a long time. Even though I failed to mention their names or show their faces in their first appearance, I designed them as if they were the stars of their own story rather than minor characters in this one. Their story (not that I've actually written one) doesn't have them crossing paths with our main cast very often, so I don't get to include them. But when they do show up, their lines and actions take center stage and are characteristic of "main characters" -- from Kylie's dramatic speeches to Sean's random displays of heroism.
They are part of Tristan's social circle, btw. All the main characters have peripheral friends, unconnected to other main characters. For example, Seiko has Eric and Natalie and her other classmates and coworkers. Yuki has old cop buddies, mechanic friends, and her brothers. I should draw a flow-chart or something to mark all these connections. ~_^ After a few hundred pages it gets into the whole "friend of a friend of an acquaintance" thing. (If my story goes on long enough, we’ll know the names of the city's entire population. 0_o )
I have not yet decided on Sean and Kylie's relationship to each other. They might be siblings or best friends or a couple. I'll figure it out when/if it becomes important. -Posted on Apr 07, 2009 |

@JustNoPoint: I like examining sibling relationships, bit my original idea was that they are close friends. I considered that maybe Sean and Tristan were both romantically interested in Kylie (Tristan lost, of course). Then I wondered if Tristan would be able to act so casual around her if he had ever pursued Kylie romantically. I honestly don't know. I seldom decide on these things until they become relevant to the plot.
I'm actually deeply considering the fate of these two at this very moment. My sister doesn't want me to follow through with one plan I have (I'm sure you could guess...), and I need to tie things in with previous S&K plot points.
QUOTE: I thought I had that later but at times the story goes to those characters.
These two have been good about remaining in their own separate story. Tristan is a small part of their past, and that's the extent of their involvement. -- Of course, that makes me think that if tragedy were to befall them, they would become more main characters, and I don't want that... *Sigh* Decisions decisions...
QUOTE: I also laughed that they are interested in surviving. I think most people are ;-)
Lol. Well, for these two "survival" has a very different meaning than it does for other characters. The others (aside from Fudo) aren't worrying about where their next meal will come from. Kylie and Sean represent the poverty that Eric has alluded to in his campaign. -Posted on Apr 07, 2009 | | User: JustNoPoint | | 5 | QUOTE: They might be siblings or best friends or a couple. For some reason this made me chuckle XD
Oh goodness... flow charts. I wouldn't begin to know how to make one of those later. Seems once you get a pretty expanded cast that the thing would be a total MESS!!!

Here it looks like they are a couple... about to lay a big wet smack on each other.
I tell you, most of the simple robbers in this town just are not very good.
I like the idea of main characters within their own continuum. I thought I had that later but at times the story goes to those characters.
The fact that the story never focuses on these two until they make their way back to the main story is pretty neat! -Posted on Apr 07, 2009 | | User: brb | | 5 | | I love how stylish this art is. -Posted on Apr 07, 2009 |
