I created Caroline because I envisioned Alex as a middle child (like me) -- going by some interesting theories on birth order affecting personality.
She wasn't going to be used for any actual plot, but I wanted to write a kidnapping. My first thought was to use Jacob and Emily, but since Mike is their regular babysitter (meaning low-income family), I figured they wouldn't fit the kidnap victim profile. Caroline, however, fit the profile well. Once I settled on Caroline for a kidnapping the whole Ronnie revenge plot fell into place -- and the Raidon tie-in followed.
Caroline hasn't and won't play much of a role. I prefer writing adults-only stories. My favorite TV shows were always sitcoms like Wings, Night Court, Get Smart, etc. or adventures like MacGyver -- no kids or families. I'll leave the teenage silliness/drama to Nickelodeon and anime. ~_^ (And high school me. *Cough*) -Posted on Apr 02, 2009 |

| User: usedbooks | | | When I was first exposed to anime, I *hated* it. That was when it all appeared to be fantasy/steeampunk/teenage drama garbage. Now, I can't say I dislike anime, but I am very particular. I like Lupin III (real world setting, no super powers, no kids), Samurai Champloo (young characters but not high school -- no fantasy elements), Cowboy Bebob -- except Ed ticks me off, and Detective Conan (despite technically starring a teenager). I had a very negative feeling about the small children in Detective Conan when they were introduced, but after about two episodes, I loved them. I still strongly dislike when the show sidetracks into teenage relationships. I tolerate it only for the action/mystery.
Also, I had a completely miserable high school experience. It lead me to hate all teenagers. Why do you think Mike gets beaten up so much? ~_^

Don't curse her like that! It's not entirely true. It was more true in the beginning, but I've become fairly deliberate in picking the seemingly minor characters that appear to "become" major. (Not to spill any spoiler info, but Conrad was always intended to be very important -- even though he appears insignificant.)
Besides, she's a kid. That makes her inherently insignificant in my story. If she was a cat or a motorcycle, she'd be more likely to have a bigger role. XD -Posted on Apr 02, 2009 | | User: JustNoPoint | | 5 | Hey, you started off as anime! So you gotta do pre adult stories XD
I watched MacGuyver and Get Smart, not the others so much.
With live action I prefer adults. With cartoons I tend to want to escape reality. FAR away in most instances. And it's fun being young again.
