| usedbooks | Ricky and Brigit had a cute little two-part love story early in the comic. After that, I figured they might be mentioned in passing, and they have remained a pair of lovely recurring minor characters. Brigit was originally not a developed character. I wrote her as quiet and mousey and in describing her, I’d say "her most interesting characteristic is Ricky." That changed after the Halloween party when she out-pranked Ricky, and her free-spirit nature was solidified when she ran away from her own wedding. -- Now it seems that Brigit is the more vibrant and interesting character of the two of them.
I use this couple to play out my desire for normalcy and sit-com levity. I wanted a happy couple with no conflict (as opposed to the widows, divorcees, star-crossed lovers, and unrequited love...). I wanted to draw a wedding. I wanted to include a pregnancy. Ricky and Brigit provided me with these opportunities without having a huge effect on the major plotlines and character dynamics. Plus, all these things serve as plot devices/vehicles for more important storylines (like Yuki's tragic fiancee back-story, and Seiko's struggle with her own feelings).
I'm proud to say nothing sinister has befallen this sweet couple, and I have no immediate plans to expose them to danger or tragedy. ~_^ (Operative word = plans. If you know my writing at all, you'll understand how completely meaningless that word is.) -Posted on Apr 01, 2009 |

Heh, a normal, really happy couple eh? I guess it can happen every once in a while. I'm sure it won't last forever though. They do know your 3 main females after all XD
