| usedbooks | When I introduced them (in a flashback), my intentions were for Raidon, Meredith, and “Nick” to be colleagues and equals, all syndicate bosses. However, as I wrote the dialogue, it became apparent that Raidon was giving the orders. Upon realizing Meredith was a subordinate, I was determined not to let her fall into obscurity, become an unmemorable lackey, or, worse, a sympathetic character. There were so few female villains in my story that I was determined to make sure I kept Meredith significantly nasty and memorable. So, she became very polarized with strong motives and no hesitation or thoughtfulness. She also became one of the most predictable and easy-to-write characters. Meredith = gold-digging sadist.
Meredith was originally intended to be single and have no interest whatsoever in relationships (luxury + pain are her only desires), but later on one of my inner reflections added a little spin on Meredith and a whole new source of fun/torment. I simply asked myself, “Who was Mike’s victim?” A stranger I never intended to give an identity became Meredith’s late husband, and Mike became a target. Hehe. Some of my readers felt bad for her when they learned that Meredith was a widow, but that sympathy faded when she found Mike (who apologized profusely and also felt bad… at first). No, Meredith is not a grieving widow. If anything, she’s angry that someone had the nerve to cross her, but she isn’t really that deep or emotional. Meredith likes having the excuse to hurt people. Her marriage was most likely not based on love (probably money, and now the widow is richer for her “loss”).
Btw, I asked the same question about Seiko’s jewelry, “Where did it come from?” Meredith became a very convenient way for me to tie up loose ends -- which is her forte, no? -Posted on Mar 22, 2009 |

I originally misspelled her name Merideth (merry death?)
QUOTE: Oh and she keeps herself looking pretty healthy at 50 ish!
Money and bathing in the blood of the innocent. XD Raidon looks youngish too, but that isn't too atypical. Some people just age very well like that and others fall apart. (Conrad is only around 60, but he has crows feet, white hair, etc.)
QUOTE: Though as much as she scares me I love it when she's around. She reminds me of one of my more typical villains. The kind that you don't have to question. You know without a doubt they are MEAN!
I had a few like that, but they're dead now. -_- Ronnie's straight-forward nasty too. He's a great henchman. We'll be seeing much more of Meredith (and Ronnie) *very* soon. (Well, reasonably soon at the snail's pace of two pages a week...)
QUOTE: This chick is hardcore. All she needs is a dominatrix suit and a whip to be complete.
I don't think Meredith would have a whip. It's not hardcore *enough.* She does have mastery of a lot of weapons. I think you'll enjoy the next "toy" in her arsenal. -- And no, no form-fitting costumes for her. She's all business. ;-) -Posted on Mar 22, 2009 | | User: JustNoPoint | | | Ugh I put one of those arrows to point at her name and it killed my comment
Meredeath {see what I did there?) :P
Yeah, she can "tie up" loose ends all right.

We mirror each other a LOT. The new villain boss/subordinate that appears after the Prologue is almost exactly like Meredith. Except, with the dominatrix suit and whip ;-)
