Tom Himitsukaze was just an average 15 year old. he had average 15 year old problems. Until one day, he saw something through the window of the door to an old classroom. Upon entering, his world was tossed upside-down as he plunged into the Spirit Realm. But, the minute his feet touched the ground, he was given a new identity. The Wind Warrior, Zanaku.

Zanaku is Tom's elemental alter-ego as it were. Born from Tom's entrance to the Spirit Realm, Zanaku is an apprentice Wind Warrior, under the careful guidance of the wind spirits Skey, Farin, and Zeke, although, even under the eyes of these three, he was still able to privately create a whole new move set; the Ten Sen (Heaven Blast).

Marco is Tom's older brother. He is two years older than Tom, and no longer attends school, working in an office to pay for food, as their father rarely is home long enough to put his money to use. He has a rather reckless personality, and is all too ready to support any one of Ryan's genius, but rather psychotic, plans.

Ryan, also 17, is Marco's best friend. He runs his own business, although what it actually does is unknown for now. He asked for Tom and Marco's help retrieving his experiment, the Mirror System from the organisation named Aura. His personality is usually calm and collected, and his intelligence surpasses that of the Himitsukaze brothers. He was extremely interested in Tom's change into Zanaku, and wishes to test it with the Mirror System.

Kei Hitan is 15, and attends the same school as Tom. She moved to Tom's hometown under the instruction of Fyros, the Fire Spirit who supervises her training as a Fire Warrior apprentice. She was told to form an attack upon the school, and by doing so forced Tom to appear as Zanaku. After the fight, she found out the fight had in fact been a test.

Kai Sonsaku is a 15 year old Spirit Walker. The Sonsaku family are famous Spirit Walkers, who are feared for their ability to use the power of spiritual guardians to summon stronger weaponry or giant spiritual avatars. Kai enjoys striking down darklings who have escaped 'The Dark', and even does so when not on a mission as a Spirit Walker.

Freya is Kai's 12 year old sister. She is also a Spirit Walker, but is not such an enthusiastic fighter as her brother. She is a pacifist at heart, but if forced to fight, she will, and her power over spirits is exceptional, causing deadly results.

Skey is the leader of the Wind Spirits, and is the only female of the group. She also has the unique ability to mold her energy into a physical body around her elemental core, which scared the life out of Zanaku. Skey has a spontaneous and humorous personality, but can be solemn when the situation demands it.

Farin is another of the Wind Spirits. He is usually rather grim, and envies Skey's ability to reform her physical form, as he is rather infatuated with himself. He is a master of blades, and teaches Zanaku how to use his weapon, the Wind Breaker, to its full potential.

Zeke is the last of the Wind Spirits. He is calm and quiet, only chipping in to make the odd comment or wisecrack about Zanaku or one of the other two. Zeke is a master of elemental based attack, and taught Zanaku his first Wind based move, the Kaze Sen no Jutsu (Wind Blast Technique).

Fyros is the sole Spirit of Fire. He teaches Kei how to be Fire Warrior apprentice, and gives off a rather evil, or ominous air. The marks on his eyes are not in fact, part of his spirit form, but were obtained as scars in a fight when he was living.

Aomizu is the only Spirit of Water. She instructs the apprentice of water, Michael.

Tsuchite is the only Spirit of Earth. He is in charge of the earth apprentice, Marc.

Campbell is one of Tom's friends at school. He appears to be laid back, and doesn't appear to know anything of Tom's abilities.

Matt appears only briefly when the school's Gym department is set on fire by Kei. He has only just moved to the school, and wonders what the hell is going on!
