Sophia and Selphi start kicking some Bishop bastard ass! While these Bishops are rather skilled warriors, they're not significantly different from armed soldiers. They have the tools and the weapons (although we'll find out that the Order represses technology later on - not really a spoiler), but rarely have the challenge to fight someone who can stand up for themselves.
Especially since Sophia and her sister are highly skilled warriors.
Also, anyone notice a certain red sash around the hilt of Selphi's sword? Could be familiar somehow....
ttyler: Thanks, buddy. I told Olivia that establishing shots were going to be paramount in this story, as we're trying to both forward the narrative and introduce the world to the reader.
usedbooks: They CAN carry firearms, but they don't always do it. There are better examples of them with firearms in another prequel, Bushido, which was supposed to precede this story (in terms of coming out, not in chronology).
ghostrunner: Thanks, Olivia's been blowing me away with a lot of her new pages. Her work is improving by leaps and bounds over her very early stuff.
harryq: Thanks dude. It's good to get that stuff out of my head. There are always explanations for why things happen and how, but you have to inform the reader - or else they stop liking your stuff. :P
patrickdevine: Hee hee hee, interesting that you bring up Julian and Shiri, as they have a story to be told as well. I think I may do a 22-25 pager about Julian, as his story is rather interesting. Shiri will play a HUGE role in the eventual sequel, Holy War.
patoborracho: I told Olivia to up her game on the action (and the dramatic poses), and she's been learning how to do just that. Her and I have a very good working rapport going so far, and I look forward to continuing it.
Peipei: I wanted to stress the difference between the two women's fighting styles here, where Selphi moves like a dancer and has outstretched arms when fighting, and Sophia keeps herself tight together, making small / short slashing motions. I think I described it better in my script, though....
Doctor Shadow: Thanks, glad you dig it, dude.
mattchee: Everyone loves it when the Bishops show up. Especially since blood is usually not far behind!
OfftheGrid: Thanks, glad you like it. Reading through the script, I realize that I cut the fight scenes down quite a bit (although there are a lot of them) to try to keep the story to 50 pages. I probably could've cut out some fights and just made others longer.
Jabali: Olivia's style for blood is different from my own, which is refreshing. She has more of a splatter style to it, which I like, while mine was more about pouring out of a person. I tried to keep the blood down in this fight because, well...it's the first fight. ;)
armandoB: Thanks man. Olivia's been working hard at improving her stuff, and I think she's been doing it very very well!
Warpedwenger: Good question. It's like, "If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" ... Alright, maybe it's not like that at all. Mostly, I'm just trying to remind people of stuff that I've already told them.
amanda: Thanks for reading!
Darwin: Oh, there's plenty more coming! I just finished the second to last scene in the story, and it made me cry writing it. I have about 10 more pages to finish scripting before it's all written...and then Olivia just has to catch up on art duties. ;) It should be a satisfying ending, and it certainly plays into events that we've already seen...and shall be seeing down the road!
I actually couldn't remember where the sword with the red sash last showed up, it's been such a long time since I read the original Temple story. So I went back and reread it. Looking back on it now there's some things that make a little more sense. If the Order is suppressing technology that explains why the Cardinal really hated Julian and Shiri.
Wait... If they carry firearms, why are they all holding swords? I don't see a single gun. Maybe I missed something. Maybe their guns look like swords?
