The start of a new chapter and the end of a story arc. This one's going out with a bang, as I pulled out all the stops and have added shading to the characters. I'm not sure if I'll ever do it to future pages or not (not because I don't like the way it looks, but because it's time consuming - it's like adding color to the pages, only it's still gray scale). Honestly, I look the black and white look.
I mean, the story was inspired by classic Akira Kurosawa samurai films.
GTLB: Not many people have watched Kurosawa, even though he's probably the greatest international director of all time. And one of the best directors of all time, up there with Hitchcok and Chaplin.
CoyoteLongshot: I've always described the comic as "Kurosawa meets Final Fantasy."
You know, I never made the connection between the black-and-white of your comics and Kurosawa, but now that you mention it, it does give off that vibe.
albone: Bloodthirsty, you say? Well, if you think that graphic and horrific violence have been shown in this comic up to this point, you haven't seen anything yet! Get ready to be quenched!
JustNoPoint: Thanks, that means a lot to me. I have been designing covers for Chapters 1-3 (which currently just have the empty title slides), which will come out after this story arc has finished. I have cover 1 almost finished, but still want to do some tweaking to my designs for covers 2 and 3.
Fitz: I was going for that epic movie-poster look and feel, so I'm glad someone caught on to it. Monday will bring another flashback, revealing a little truth that I've been hinting at since the beginning, but never really outright said, and then we'll get into the good stuff!
DSNG: Thanks for reading!
Peipei: I couldn't have planned that better if I'd tried! Happy new chapter to you as well!
usedbooks: I worked on that for a little while, and even though it didn't come out exactly the way that I wanted it to, I'm still pleased with it. Effects are something that I fear I don't get to play with nearly enough.
GTLB: Thanks man. I guess I ruin the magic of the page if I tell you that the photo is actually 2 images that I merged together and tried to make look seamless....did I pull it off?
kyupol: Thanks dude. I try to one-up myself each time I work on a cover, since they tend to take a little longer but allow for a little more artistic freedom. I don't have to tell a sequential story with my covers. ;)
amanda: The verticle and horizontal lines are a theme that I've had running through the covers (since I actually started making covers with Chapter 4), and want to continue as I do covers for chapters 1-3. Those covers will be released after the story arc has ended, as I'm looking to milk as much time as possible before starting Abraham. :P
TheMidge28: Thanks man! Glad you like it! You also had a rather awesome cover page up last week for [blood/hound].
Looks great! If this were the cover of a book or comic at the store, I would have picked it up to check it out. My favorite part are the lines on the left and bottom.
