A new chapter, and a new cover to go with it! This chapter is going to get a little depressing, as we find out what the hell happened to the swordsman - and we'll experience the death of a major character!
Then the story will finish up in Chapter 6: The Way of the Samurai. But don't fret, there's more Temple in store after this story - as we will be treated to The Legend of Abraham with art by my friend Olivia. This will be a 25 page fairy tale explaining the origins of the Holy Order of Abraham, and what a little boy has to do to have a religion based around him and his actions. After that, we'll going into another prequel called "Bushido" which will be about the swordsman.
JustNoPoint: Glad I could be helpful in the inspiration department. Thanks for the compliment.
Janen: Thanks. I try to take the chapter titles from the narration on the first page, so be sure to check out tomorrow's page - when the line is revealed that is the inspiration for the title.
usedbooks: Thanks, I wanted to give the cover even more of a dram-like feel to it than the opening chapter pages. The first page of this chapter (Wednesday's page) is probably one of my favorite of the whole series.
DAJB: Thanks!
dinges: I originally had the gray darker, but then wanted to make it lighter - the eye has the ability to see things better than I usually think it does, so I tried this image lighter. Although Laura didn't like it this way, I think it fits the feeling I was going for very well. She's almost a figment of your imagination.
Fitz: It kind of has a "pen-and-ink" feel to it, but I didn't even draw this image. It was created in Photoshop 100%.
Peipei: Thanks, I hope that the chapter meets / exceeds everyone's expectations.
harryq: Thanks for reading!
GTLB: Glad you like it!
amanda: Yes, I wanted themto standout from a design standpoint, which kind of contradicts the feel that I was going for with her being very dream-like. I think it looks neat, though.
TheMidge28: Well I'm not sure, but I think you really love this cover image. ;)
Yes, I played with a darker gray color (this is actually the original gray I used, but with 35% opacity), but then wanted to give the cover a more dream-like look and feel to it. Like she's there, but that she's barely visable. The lighter gray also helps make up for a few mistakes that I made, since I didn't draw this image and scan it in (but instead made it all in PhotoShop).
one thing...did you try other graytones to contrast with?
just a thought the light grey grey but I wonder if you took that grey ang used it where the white is and then go one shade darker where the light grey was how that would look?
