I apologize for all the exposition in chapter 2, but it was necessary to get that out of the way and say what was going on. Any thoughts on ways to get through exposition in the future that are more interesting than a group of people sitting around telling stories around a camp fire?
Fitz: The covers will get some art attached to them. I just needed a temporary chapter divider here, and unfortunately didn't have the time to do a full-on cover. However, the later covers will hopefully be to your liking. :D
Exile has a wonderful idea there - I had an almost identical image in mind when I read what he said, only with two droplets. In any case, I'd stick to drawing something in red for it - doesn't have to be a character, something symbolic might work even better!
Yeah, you and I talked about this last night on the phone. I'm actually designing full images for the chapter dividers, which I hope to have available for the next chapter divider.
With 6 chapters and technically only 5 main characters, the possibilities are endless. :D
This Friday will be the first Fan Art Friday, as I have received my first few pieces of fan art! Be sure to check it out, and feel free to submit some yourself! ;)
Hey Trevor, I think just a bit of color or a bit of imagery would really help these pages. maybe something like http://scott.exilecomics.com/images/trevortest.jpg
Midge - Yes, this story is definitely intended for an older / more adult audience. Although I have some personal hesitations about using the f-word or putting unnecessary nudity in the comic, I have no problems putting oodles and oodles of violence...and the best is yet to come!
I've actually been thinking about full-blown fresh artwork for the chapter covers. There's six chapters, but only 5 main characters...so perhaps one of the covers will feature the bad guys.
I'm already working on the artwork, as I just finished an overall cover for the series (which was inked, so the art looks quite a bit different). I'll be posting them up.
The next chapter will have some startling revelations about some of the characters, Shiri and Julian in particular.
just revealing bits as the story progresses really helps with that...it portrays a trust in the reader to put things together as the story unfolds...assuming the storyline is for an older audience.
just an idea which would make these chapter covers more interesting...cropping a piece of art in a square with a black or red border from the chapter like the thumbnail used for the comic and placing it under the title here...just an idea.
