Welcome to the tenth page of THE SURREAL ADVENTURES OF EDGAR ALLAN POO!

As you can see, our heroes have a bit of trouble on their hands. Will they be ripped to shreds by a mythical sea beast--or will they find a way to defeat the creature and continue their journey?

Well... you'll have to rejoin the adventure next Saturday to find out.

Yes, I know: I am a mean, mean man. mwahahaha

I would like to let you, the loyal reader, know that there will be a graphic novel released before the end of the year. I cannot say more at this time due to legal issues, but rest assured that I will blab about the whole thing as soon as I am able to do so. In fact, I'll probably blab so much that you'll remember my silence with fondness. HAHAHA!

Oh, and don't worry: the webcomic isn't going anywhere! You can count on a new page every Saturday without interruptions. So... don't worry about that. We're committed to ya.

Thanks to you, my companions, for adventuring with us--and please be sure to spread the word! The more the merrier, I always say.

Until next week,
Dwight L. MacPherson

I agree with that animated series statement.
I half wish it updated more often, but then the art would be sacrifced, and I would rather wait a week a time hen have worse art.

Your comic really does have a UNIQUE style. I also think this would do marvels as an animated series or even a game.

Best of luck with it.

I must admit... the first page is a bit of misdirection. Stick with us and watch the story unfold. I think you'll be happy you did. ^_^

Interesting concept...Took me a minute after that first full page of the comic...gives a whole new understanding of the title!

Oh my! LOL!

I really like the art on this...very interesting indeed!

Keep up the good work!

Jason: Thanks, brother! You're totally right. Online comics will not replace printed comics, but they make a wonderful supplement to them--and vice versa.
Right on. Thanks for reading and supporting us!

Starwolf: Exactly, my friend! You are too, too kind. ^_^
Thanks for reading and commenting, my friend! We're thrilled that you're enjoying it!

2ndwnd: Thank you very much! We hope you'll check back Saturday for a brand new page--and we're happy to have you along for the journey. ^_^

I heart artists: Saturday, m'dear. New updates every Saturday. ^_^

Cliffhangers keep you coming back for MORE!!! You really don't need them you know. The art and story are what keep me checking.

well I think you're succeeding Dwight. and I think that the format of a webcomic is VERY MUCH like a novel (or rather a GOOD novel, I've read plenty where I don't even feel compelled to finish the chapter before noddding off) and I'm in that camp that thinks the FUTURE of the medium is a happy marriage between online content and printed material. Keep knocking our socks off!

Yup, we have pages in the can for weekly releases up until the middle of JUNE and are continuing to steadily produce new pages. There is no way in hell we'll ever miss a beat!

The script for this chapter in Edgar Allan Poo's adventures has long been finished by Dwight and Boaty constantly amazes us with his stunning visual ideas.

Let the pants crapping continue! :D

PS: Commander Cool, Dwight's explanation is really good encompassing both print and web media, but in the case of a webcomic, it's especially important to leave a hook at the end of each page so readers return. If you're doing drama, that's essential.

Great question, Commander Cool!

Have you ever read a book that you simply couldn't put down? Page after page, you felt possessed to keep turning and turning--until you finished the entire novel?
Well, I feel that comic books should be the same way. Each and every page should so engross the reader that they are compelled to turn the page, or, in this case, to return next week to read the new episode. Writing a boring comic book is easy. Trust me: the big names have made a science of it. No, I want to write something that engages readers, something that readers look forward to with anticipation.
Hopefully, I'm accomplishing that...

Thanks for reading, Commander Cool--and thanks for the great question!

Thank you for the kindness QueenofSkittles =) I had a great time painting that stuff. Id like to do a whole page like that, but time is against me.

And there are so many cliffhangers, Commander, cause Dwight is a terrible writer who uses gimmicks to interest the readers.

Kidding. Really. ;P

I love the effects of grays, greens, browns and yellows work together to give that creeping feeling instead of using just black and grays.
