This is kind of an odd one to me. I'm not really happy with the way it looks. It's not terribly wordy, and yet it looks busy to me. I'm experimenting with layout (again) and such experiments don't always go the way you want them to. Ah, well. You gotta move on.

It's probably not helped by the fact that this is more of a "bridging" strip. That's okay sometimes though, right?

Next Week:

Thanks to this week's illness a couple of my Tall Tale Features cronies have stepped up and offered to do a couple of guest strips for me. So...yeah, this cliffhanger will have to wait, but you'll still get some primo SuperFogeys goodness because the guys who are coming in are far, far more talented than I.

First up, on Tuesday, will be nationally syndicated cartoonist Brian Anderson (Dog Eat Doug). And then, on Thursday, nationally published editorial cartoonist Lucas Turnbloom (Imagine This) will step in. Like I said, far more talented than me.

You guys are in for a real treat.

Dawn - You'll notice that I pretty much NEVER try to depict actual movement in my strips. I find that stuff to be incredibly difficult for some reason. So thanks for calling it out as something you liked. Yes...I am a perfectionist. I admit it. Not proudly, mind you.

AK Brando - Good question! Uncharacteristically, I will give you a straight answer: No. Sorry!

BlanchPrez - Whoa! The things you guys pick up on. That was EXACTLY my intent with Jerry in that panel where he's holding Spy Gal. It's very subtle, but I was trying to show a different side to him there, one we don't get to see a whole lot of.

You're right about experimentation. I'm always honest about when I think it fails, but I think it's good to keep on trying. I've made more great discoveries than I have abysmal failures out of it, I think. As for the masks...thanks for noticing that too! There's only a few mask wearers, but they do hold onto them, don't they? I think one day you will see the masks come off, but only for a good reason. Something to look forward to.

Ghostrunner - I will! Thanks!

Smik - Yeah, I do kind of beat up on the guy, don't I? He's a fave of mine though, so I don't really mean to be too hard on him. It just kind of...happens.

I just like the fact that Jerry seems to have gotten a break for once. :)

One other thing I have to say. I've found this to be hilarious the whole strip run. No one in this place ever takes off their mask. Even when he's in surgery, and here, unconscious in bed, Jerry still has his mask on. Great stuff.

You know, in Panel.. 3? 4? The one where Jerry is holding Spy Gal. I think that's the most adult I've ever seen Jerry look in this entire strip. What makes that especially odd is that it's followed by the "happy leg" and Jerry's traditional grin. I am intrigued. There is more to Jerry than he lets on.

I can see what you mean on the layout, Brock. It's a little more comic-booky (especially Silver Age comic-booky) than a standard Sunday morning strip layout. Still, keep on experimenting. You never know what's going to pop.

So did the good Dr. Rocket rebuild Jerry, Better, Faster, and Stronger???

Just like the Six Million Dollar Man?

I like Jerry's "happy" leg action in the 2nd panel, LOL. I think this page is nice, Brock.. you're too hard on yourself. But, well.. I do understand your perfectionism.

Miss Annoying - I think Spy Gal must have scratched the right spot.

mattchee - Indeed! Stinks you guys don't get to see the follow-up for another week and a half. But I think the talent I'm bringing in next week will more than make up for it.

dueeast - That's great! I love surprising. I'm hope this little mini-arc's conclusion surprises as well. I think it will.

kavonn - You just always gotta be a step ahead of me, don't ya...or are you? I love the Jerry-dog comparison.

ToonmanAZ - Best sponge? I'll take that.

Sure man. I do think that's the best sponge panel I've ever seen though. LOL

Well, I was half right. This doesn't look like it's gonna end well - if CS acts on jealousy, she'll shove Star in his face, and then...boom.
Panel 2.5 - Jerry reminds me of a dog wagging his tail. Hey, Jerry, dog, not a bad comparison...lovable, annoying, slightly *unintelligent*.

Chip - Is he jealous? I mean, what do you say when you walk in on that? I can tell you right now that the Captain being jealous is now how this is gonna play out, despite whatever can be inferred from that last panel. I think what's gonna spin out of this little scene is gonna be a lot of fun. We shall see!

Yeah, not my favorite strip thus far. The jealousy thing at the end seems to come outta nowhere.
