New SuperFogeys Fan Art went up yesterday. This one, Spy Gal "Look But Don't Touch" comes from Bradley Overall, artist and writer of the slick, fun webcomic Surfboards and Ray Guns.

Should be another fan art going up later today, so head on over and give the page a fave so you know when it's here. Also, there's been a lack of commenting on these fine art pieces (thought not a lack of hits, mind you) and I sure would like for these great artists to be blessed with a word of praise or two for their hard work. Don't be false, but don't be shy either, okay?

************

Copies of the SuperFogeys Book 2 went out a couple weeks ago. What didja' all think? Would especially love to hear your thoughts on the exclusive backup story. For good or ill, let's hear it.

************

I had a Cap'n Crunch Milkshake from Carl's Jr. the other night. Not only do I have the best wife on the planet who, it seems, surprises me with golden crunchy goodness, but I'm pretty sure I know what the angels drink.

NOT. HYPERBOLE.

************

Tall Tale Features is coming! Curious? PM me and I'll send you an extra-special link so you can preview it. Gonna be huge.

************

I saw Speed Racer a couple days ago. Forget the Tomatometer. Forget whatever you local critic wrote about it. This film is amazing and anyone who says differently is involving themselves in a massive, unwarranted smear campaign. Run to the theater and see it in IMAX if you can! 2 hours and 15 minutes? I couldn't tell.

*****************

Next week: Space Pig clocks in and bearded Captain Spectacular, take two.

SirIsaac - Sweet! Thanks for taking the time. Glad you feel it was worth it.

crazyduck - I wish more people knew how good it was. Really glad I'm not the only one.

BlanchPrez - Sounds like we're on the same page when it comes to gag strips, my friend. You have no idea how much I appreciate your comments. It's pretty much the opposite of what my wife said to me in the car earlier. I don't pretend to be great at this, but it's nice to be appreciated for what I am doing instead of what I'm not! (Don't want to come off as overly sensitive here--haters bring on the hate!)

ghostrunner - Very true. A complex story arc is going to require a little breathing room now and again. My working theory has always been that as long as the JOKE stands well on it's own, then it doesn't really matter that much to a new reader what the story is. Hopefully, they're more intrigued than confused.

Dawn - Oh, you just no she's gonna be on it just as soon as Doc Klein rolls back into town.

my wife prefers the short black and white cartoons i used to draw too, brock. unfortunately when you have group dynamics, you cant always explain things in just the one strip.

Brock, first, let me say that I love the direction SF has gone. You've managed to tell a compelling super-hero story and still keep in the funny. ("Will you stop with the pants?")

Personally, I'm of the opinion that you simply can't keep a strip going for ever as just a gag strip. It starts to turn old, and just becomes a repeat of the same jokes over and over. So, I'm happy to see that you've turned this strip into something that still relates to it's origins, but has grown beyond them at the same time.

Secondly, I just want to say, I love the way you do facial expressions. That last panel is just amazing! Keep up the good work.

Miss Annoying - I does work! It works every time!

kavonn - I wonder how long it'll take Spy Gal too. Seriously, I didn't know she was going to start putting the pieces together until now and I'm not sure what effect that will have on upcoming storylines. I guess the characters are truly alive in my head now. As for her eyebrow...That's just a big of artistic license. I'm suggesting her eyebrow has been lowered and swallowed into her brow. If you glower in the mirror at yourself just right, you can get a similar effect going.

Julio - Aaah! You haven't gotten yours? For shame! You gotta see it, man. Your art sings in the printed format.

I want my SuperFogeys Book 2!!! But I cannot comment on the backup story, would not be appropriate, would it.

About your latest strips, cool story and drawings as always, man.

Pants. Just saying it is funny. Sometimes.
I wonder how long it'll take Spy Gal to put the pieces together. And what the outcome of the operation will be. Curse you for your talented story-telling.
P.S. Did her eyebrow pull a disappearing act in the last panel or is it just me?

matchee - NEVER.

ghostrunner - Okay...huh?

SPC - Trust me when I tell you that it's worth finding out. (For those of you that don't know, Hardee's is the Carl's Jr. equivalent east of Nevada.)

Barbie - Thanks! It's not often I really get a chance to pull the camera back. I'm glad it had the necessary storytelling impact.

pinkertonpark - Oh, that would be terrific. I'm not musically inclined at all, are you? Would this be something people could actually do? I'm sure I could come up with some great prizes if there was interest.

Chip - I hear the ending LOST "thud" at the end of this strip, do you?

danthemancartoons - Yeah, I have been. Not to everyone's delight either. My wife used to be a big fan or SF, but this morning she informed me that it's been "too story driven and not as funny lately." I pointed out Tuesday's strip, "When Pigs Fly," to her and she said, "Yeah, not funny." How does the current tone of SF sit with you?

Bradleyo - Oh, my pleasure. You deserve some major attention for that great fan art. As for Spy Gal, this is a thread that will be woven into coming chapters. I think it's safe to say that Spy Gal is on the case!

NYJ - Thanks, man! Believe it or not, this strip had an entirely different ending but then I realized, hey, Spy Gal's a smart lady. She would start putting things together pretty quickly. Look for CS's reaction next week.

dantheman - Can you have too many pants jokes? I say no, but I"m gonna test that theory to the limit before this chapter is over.

That last frame is great.

I was thinking, Brock. You know what every superhero needs? A great theme song. You should have a contest to see who can write the best theme song.
