About the Comic
"The Sins of the Mother" is, simply, a fantasy comic created by me, Eliza. The story is, at simplest, about a group of people unearthing the truth about a past that has been skewed by history, and learning their connections to that past. Of course, there is a little more to it. Hopefully you'll enjoy.
The story simply came together in my head--it's probably about one-third imagery taken from dreams, one-third random inspiration, and one-third careful plotting and planning.
The comic is drawn and colored mostly by hand; paneling and text boxes are done digitally. The art is done in inkpens and prismacolor markers (all in shades of Warm Grey, Cool Grey, or French Grey). Panels and text are added in Paint Shop Pro.
About me
Well, let's see. My name is Eliza, and I'm a fairly geeky 21-year-old, geeky hobbies including video games, D&D, some reading, Hello Kitty, and of course drawing and writing. (As much as my art seems to come off as anime-style to people, I'm no anime fan--though there are a few Japanese cartoons that I enjoy, the vast majority that I've seen completely bore me.) I'm currently simply a worker bee--I work at a video game store right now, which I enjoy most of the time.
I grew up in Tucson, Arizona, but moved to California last year to live with my previously long-distance boyfriend. This year, we hope to move back to Tucson, where it's cheaper and generally less sucky to live. (No offense to California--I live in one of the not-nice areas) He's very good to me, and probably the most important aspect of my life. (Plus, he puts up with Hello Kitty bedding and my ever-growing collection of stuffed animal puppies. What a great guy.)
If my name didn't give it away, I'm female. Speaking of my name, it's not short for Elizabeth, and not pronounced "Eleeza." It has a long "i" sound. (I rather like it when my name is pronounced correctly. XD)
I've been drawing since I knew how to hold a pencil (eh, or crayon, as the case may be), but didn't really get any good at it until around early 2004. I'm a complete amateur; it's just something I do for fun.
My favorite video games, just for the record, include the Xenosaga/gears series, Zelda series (top favorites are probably Wind Waker and A Link to the Past), Star Ocean 2, EarthBound, Final Fantasy IX (I enjoy the rest of the series, but IX is the one that really stands out to me), Mario RPG-type games (including Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario titles, and Mario and Luigi titles), Mario platform games (Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island being my favorites), Monkey Island series, and I recently have a very, very soft spot for my Nintendogs. Obviously, my favorite genres are RPG, Platform, and Adventure.
