The beginning of TPCTH vol 3!
This part of the story features...lots of Pepe/Namey. Starla and Scout too. Character development 4 Pepe!? We even get a few flashbacks that hasn't been seen before featuring Demi/Luka and Namey! Wow!
Also I am considering changing over my pencil shading to minimal tones. (I waited on the switch because I wanted the art in vol 2 to be consistent.) I don't want to go crazy with them like shojo manga, just have tones where pencil used to be. I don't want to kill my background art development by replacing it with tree or sky tones. I want to keep my charcoal shading. Please tell me what you think. Would TPCTH become pigeonholed as a manga-copy if I do that?
I love this cover. I'm always fond of mirrors breaking and revealing the inner you kinda thing.
I have a feeling that this will be an epic issue.
Besides, I heard you through the podcast and the interview was pretty cool. It seems that you know a lot about psycology with art and that's pretty impressive. I like that!
About the whole medium thing, I think it's better to work with things that you feels comfortable to you and the feel towards your comic besides, your story is top notch. So, whatever makes you happy and continuing on doing what you like. :)
methinks that someone who dubs a comic as a copy due to the way that it is shaded is astoundingly skilled at missing the damn point.
the medium is less important than the story conveyed, which is, in this case, bloody awesome!
TPCTH is an awesome comic, and even if someone were to say it were a copy, print it and sell it.
JillyFoo, all that matters is your opinion and if u like it, ppl will just have to deal with it. the way it is now works and u can make it work any way u want.
I don't think you need to worry about people classifying TPCTH as a manga copy... A lot of manga doesn't use tone at all, and it's not like Shojo manga is the only type of comic that uses values instead of lines to create tone. Though I feel that the pencil shading has a very distinct, gritty/chairoscuro vibe (Which makes it great for the more emotional scenes... glad to hear you're keeping charcoal shading, by the way, I love the mood it creates), tone can be used just as effectively, and often makes things look a lot neater. I say go for it.
Can't wait for the next chapter! It'll be interesting to see what gets uncovered about Nameless.
