If anyone is wondering, yes, 'sprinter would be short for Mindsprinter; he's changed up his look a bit in the time since that flashback, having gotten a promotion and all.
Actually the part that "confused" me was that I initially misread the first name as 'Splinter. I was thinking you were introducing a new character! LOL Fortunately I popped down here & read your "in case you were wondering..." paragraph.

I can get non-linear, but I try to avoid "Pulp Fiction" style "things happening out of order without warning" non-linear. ^_^
The part with Mindsprinter pre-fuzzyness is the flashback;
its something Arc saw before he escaped the Anomalies Ward, where the Greening keeps failed splicing subjects. 'Sprinter is being promoted to the Primary Research Facility- where we first saw him in Book 1, about a year or so later and post-furry makeover. And Leaf is his replacement at the Ward.

Ah, it was a flashback. So I gather the retreival was successful. I wonder what happened to the others. Maybe lucky and lazy pulled it off.
