HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, EVERYONE!!! I'm actually in Cedar Rapids, Iowa right now cleaning up from all that flooding they've had along the Mississippi. Weird things are happening here on DD, and I don't have time to fix them, so if there are problems with the update, I can't take care of it until next week. My apologies. This time I won't even have internet in a tent. I think I might start shaking...! ;)
You know what my favorite thing to do on the 4th of July is? Besides watch fireworks? (I'm a major firework junkie!) Find a quiet place and listen to this. It's Bill Barker, the actor interpreter from Colonial Williamsburg who plays Thomas Jefferson, reading the Declaration of Independence. It's wonderful! I highly recommend it. Especially if you can't remember the last time you read it, it would be a good thing to review today--the *reasons* that the Americans declared a formal separation from England, and it wasn't because their tea was getting too expensive. ;)
So apparently not everyone is thrilled about Alan's overnight rise through the ranks. I think Frederick might be the exception. Yesterday, Brown was a Captain and Alan was just Private Warren. Today, Brown is still a Captain but Alan is Major Warren. Doesn't sound right to me either, until you take into consideration the inside scoop which Freddy shared.
Yeah, with Chicago last week and Iowa this week, there's no new voting incentive. Except that it's the Fourth of July, and what *other* webcomic are you going to vote for on Independence Day???

Love the continued bullseye/target references. Nice way to come back to that theme (from the feathers the recruits wore at the beginning of the comic).
Yay - Independence Day! The day you guys celebrate rising up against the injustice of being governed by a king that wasn't supported by the majority so that, 200 years later, you could have the right to be governed by president that isn't supported by the majority. Isn't democracy wonderful!?
