Look who has his gun! ;) Yeah, I don't think I'd pick a fight with Bea right now, either, Nathan. Does she seem a bit edgy, or is it just me...?
So New Orleans was great. It was really hot already. I got 2nd degree sunburn... It's a week later and I still feel heat coming off the burn. I think I'm going to head out to the doctors today... Mike and I got stuck in a garbage dump in Westwego, LA, but that's another story for another day. (Whoever said relief work was boring??) Other than that I was able to hit up the internet from inside the big old tent a few times--enough to make sure that all of my pages and blogs went live on time. Everything seemed to go smooth here without me. Did you hold down the fort okay? :)
Since I was in New Orleans last week, I was down to the wire finishing my pages this week. I made it, though! *whew* But I had no time to put together any sort of a drawing for the voting incentive. My problem is that I have so much fun doing this whole "Dreamer" thing, that I usually put all my new drawings up on DeviantART. Then Thursday rolls around and I've already freely shown you everything I could have bribed you with! So I'm scrambling each week to find something of interest!
I know I didn't update the incentive last week (and my numbers didn't drop, which means you all voted anyway! thanks!!) so I wanted to give you *something* today. Albeit something different. This week's incentive is a brief scene from an upcoming issue (don't get too excited, it's no time soon) that tells Alan's backstory. Because it's such an important issue (and has required *so* much research), I'm always working on it in the background of whatever else I'm doing at the time. The scene I'm using as the incentive this week is a brief moment from the end of summer, 1774. Alan just found out that Bea is back in Boston after having spent the past four months in New York City visiting her family. And... he missed her. ^__^ It's cute and short, but I thought you'd all like it.
Some of you have asked me about my writing process, so I thought this would be interesting for that reason as well. This is what my scripts look like when they come out of my brain. After I have enough info to roughly compile an issue, I break it all down page by page, panel by panel. So what you're reading here isn't exactly phase one (as I've revised it a few times) but it's still very much a work in progress.
Aww, man! I always read my webcomics in chunks, and have just caught up with The Dreamer. And now I want more, please! :( I'm so into the story, I just have to know what happens!
Your art is beautiful, and this is one of the best comics online, anywhere. I love it!
wait, doesn't she know what happens when you let the people know you're not from that world? While it may explain a few things, it will only confuse everyone else. What if they don't believe her, and instead, lock her up in an insane asylum. Wow, its really hard to believe that this is all just a dream.......Or is it??
Well, I think Nathan realises it's best NOT to argue with the lady who dragged you out of bed and tried to steal your stick, even if you ARE armed with a ridiculously long gun.
