My favourite mangas have always been fan--and legally--translated as sfx. Tck! Blam! Ploooom!
Which I like the most, not that there aren't sneaky artist ways to enable the readers to understand without words as well, you have to be SNEAKY! Myahaha...!
Who's orderin' here?! Wat's gonna happen next!? Is the blood on his forehead crusting over?!?
I like your storytelling and you art seems so fluid Im envious :)
About the sound fx, its very manga to just write the name of the action instead of sfx in some cases. It's a matter of taste, but both are valid imo.
mlai - I think your suggestion was quite valid so I changed some things around. I still felt the 'stride' and the 'yank' were necessary for the emphasis I wanted but I did alter a few more things and took out the 'swivel.' Thank you for your opinion. :)
I don't think you need to write -stride- and -grip- and -yank- and -swivel-. The art conveys that well enough. Replace words with sound effects and the pictorial narrative will be more immersive, IMO.
