Not smug, Tommy. Just filling in the gaps of how she (and Smythe) would know or know of Lord Ashton and a working class guy like Inspector Norfolk wouldn't.

Trust me, the thing Fiona likes least is smug rich people. She may be Lady Fiona Fiziwigg by marriage, but she is always Fiona Farris Hollywelle a fish cleaners daughter from Swansea, Wales by birth.

Maybe I should have put blue bloods in quotations to make the point of how she was using the term in a sarcastic way.

Dear Monique,
I find that "blue blood" remark kind of smug. It's like saying "I have plenty of money and you don't" I'm sure she is drinking Lord Ashtons best stuff also:) Nothing like a free drink. I guess Lord Ashton would be happy to have Fiona as a guest,if only he were alive:)

As are those working class fish cleaners daughters from Swansea, Wales. Which Fiona is. She married into upper class society when she married legendary adventurer Lord Montgomery "Monty" Fiziwigg when she was 25 and he was in his 70's. This was years before she ever became a Continental Operative. But by the time they met and married she was just as notorious as he was for her adventures--And for wearing men's clothing and the like.

When Monty was killed (mauled by a lion) Fiona's depression made her even more reckless in her adventures and becoming a Continental Operative gave her focus again and may well have saved her life.

Fiona and Monty's relationship was inspired by that Sean Connery/Catherine Zeta-Jones movie "Entrapment".
