Suffice to say, I watch a lot of TV.

Sometimes I don't notice the happenings in the background...

I agree with Lafarce, so just C+P what he said here.

You should build up your characters, have a plot to explore them into depth, before making a joke about their personality.

Sure, sometimes it's not the way you wanna take it. Being a random comic, but then, if it's random, why have sustaining characters?

Joke's not bad, but yeah, lack of backgrounds is kinda distractin. Little things could make this better.

Also, the color coding text is a tad unnecessary. Personal peeve though, so it's excluded from my rating. However, you should know that color coded text often times coveys emotions.

I.E., Red = mad, Blue = sad...

I didn't get the joke till I read the news post. After reading it, I chuckled, but the character seems too shallow on first glance.

That's a problem I noticed, you've done little to nothing to flesh out the character, but your already doing personality jokes. I should have to read the news post to understand that it's a personality trait. In fact, when you make a comic you want the reader to do as little work possible.

The lack of backgrounds leave a bit of a bland after taste. It would have been nice if it took place in a home, or something of the sort. The see through screen was also a bit misleading in terms of graphics. I didn't know what it was until he started talking about a show.

How should this have been done?

Perhaps with him on a sofa watching TV, while the character blows up in the background.

So it's meh. While it's clean, polished, and crisp, the comedy and persona's of your respective characters aren't as fleshed out as they should be to use this type of humor.

Work on your character development, get some backgrounds, and use simple objects as opposed to 3D hologram TV's, or some sort of technology that a reader can't identify with.

Hmmm, what I don't like about this comic is that the pannels are stacked above each other while it is so much easier to read when they are next to each other.
