Ten no Ken: Sword of Heaven is a fantasy action samurai noir manga devised by a demented ferret with too much free time.
The comic itself is a satire of the action genre in general- it carefully toes the line between mocking tropes, and adhering to them religiously. The deeper underlying themes involve the struggle of good versus evil, internal conflict versus external expectations, unrequited love, responsibility, and the glory of nature and its creatures. The surface themes are mostly things like people hitting each other with swords and swearing a lot, with some other vices thrown in on the side. Puns are everywhere, wordplay abounds, and there's a great deal of references to music, animals, and pop culture. Something for everyone, really, if you can stomach seeing people get stabbed in the face.
