Seriously, I do this far more often than I care to admit, especially with CDs that have a slow buildup like Mogwai or Pink Floyd. I'll turn them on, go back to doing other stuff, then be surprised when I hear it twenty seconds later.

"Huh? Oh, I must have put on a CD. I'd forgotten about that."

WOULD ANYONE LIKE MY MEMORY? ONLY 19 YEARS OLD, BARELY USED, ONLY SLIGHTLY DEFECTIVE.

I've done worse; there have definitely been moments where I turn on some music, then a few seconds later go, "Gee, I wish I had some music playing!"... only to realize that my speakers are already on.
