Which one you prefer, the brush or the tablet version?
I been experimenting "inking" with my tablet. I'm not fond of very 'tight' inks mostly because I do all my inks with brush so I'm not looking for perfect lines.
Any comment, help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
BTW, the brush version was done with a Windsor & Newton #3 brush over 80# bristol board. The tablet version was done using a Wacom Bamboo fun tablet with Photoshop CS3.
gotta go with brush. The tablet has no variation. You may want to tweak some of the settings in Photoshop to interpret your pressure to vary the line thickness. I also noticed when i ink on a tablet, I go slower because of the disconnect from hand to eye. if I inked faster on the tablet, I got 'looser' results.
The tablet version is better. They're close, but for some reason there's more flare in it, the line variation etc is just more interesting and vibrant.
I've been doing this a long time, in all media, so I've no preconceptions or bias. The brush work is good, but you seem to add a bit extra with the tablet work. Maybe the unfamilularity with the new tools does it, but it works nicely. :)
Your commentators must have been high, or just biased I'd say. ^_^
No offence to them of course though, they're all great people.
If the brush is working for you, stick with it.
You can also use a brush pen, I use a faber-castell
pitt artist pen it works just like a brush! Anyway, I like B it has better lines for
reduction, ok amigo!
Yep, they look the same, but if you ask me... ....THE BRUSH ROCKS! EFF THAT DIGITAL CRAP! LOL, nah for real they both look good. I'd go with what's faster.
WELL! I'm going to say that the brush looks better at this point. I've always been a fan of your inking (well as long as I've known you), and you have fantastic brush skills.
That said, the digital piece is only a half a click behind it in my opinion. It was really hard for me to pick which one I liked best. I would guess that in a VERY SHORT amount of time your digital and brush inks will be at the same level.
None of the things that I like better about the brush work (line weight variances and such) are things that can't be accomplished digital. So really its whatever works for you, your digital skills will catch up with your brush skills before you know it.
I personally like A) Brush better, I think it looks more detailed and little less dark. But I am also biased because I prefer brush to digital personally...probably because I am not good at digi inking.
The digital inking looks really good too though.
