Thunderkitties

Another doodle from art class.

Finished January 2003. Pose taken from the Thundercats model sheets.

Jagy contemplating his impending doom. Jagy is probably the one I've changed the most from his cartoon version. That's fine with me; I always found Jaga really annoying. Who the heck thought that having an old man run around with no shirt was a good idea? Drawn January 2003.

Jackalpup from January 2003. Man, the perspective is terrible on this one, isn't it? He's lucky he's so darn cute.

Leeno from January 2003. The sword is miscolored and the clawshield is screwy.

Mummiera, same time span. He's supposed to look like he's shaking with rage. It, uh, doesn't quite work. He does look pissed tho'. And I finally started drawing feet properly.

Jackalpup, taken from his model sheets. He looks more jackal than pup here and not nearly as loveable.

Lynxzo from September 2002. I have no idea what happened to his feet, and he's way too tall.

Bennie Gali. He's all pouty here. He's got way too many stripes, and they're way too jaggedy, but that's sheer nitpickery, cuz he's cute. I really want to get Bennie into the comic, cuz I think he's adorable and I have some fun ideas for him. Finished August 2002.

Early picture of Mummiera. Finished August 2002.

Finished August 2002. Created in PhotoDeluxe, and really she's far too pale. I hadn't yet decided how I was doing girls' lips either, so she's wearing lipstick. I'm not really into the whole 'let's make little kids look like sluts' thing, so it won't happen again.

I'm really not sure why like Mandora, but I do. From August 2002.

Early pic of Leeno. From July 2002. Nice attempt at perspective.

Very early picture of Groon (aka Grune the Destroyer). Take mostly from the toy.

Early pic of the Kittie's Lair. The design is a mixture of the comics and the toy, plus kiddifying of course.

Tcats fun-fact: In early Thundercats art, the Lair matches what's shown in the comic, giraffe neck and all

An early pic, probably doodled in class. From June 2002.

Jagy from January 2002. I believe this is the oldest picture I still have a copy of.

Up at Silvercat's

Mya-chan in a sailor fuku. Which she would never wear. She's very Japanese school-girl here. I have no idea what I was thinking. From March 2007.

Fun-fact: Mya was named after one of my cats, but their personalities are nothing alike.

Mya, done in my airbrushing class. Finished January 2004, but that includes photoshopping to get rid of screw-ups (airbrushing is hard, okay?)

Felino, finished January 2003. FYI: drawing braids is a pain in the ass. The original plan was for the ones behind his ears to be four-strand round braids, but that's a real pain to draw. I've since cheated and created a brush in Illustrator to fill in his braids. It's not perfect, but it works.

Other Art

My version of Wally Wood's 22 Panels that Always work. Someone started a project about it, but it's since disappeared. And you can see why I don't letter by hand. Finished July 2007.

A Tuska/tyger hybrid that'll appear in background shots in Up at Silvercats, at some point. If I ever get around to drawing that one.

When I first started drawing the comics I pulled down a manga and copied out a bunch of emotions. There were originally three pages and an eye study, but I just kept this one as an example. I ended up not going so extreme.

Alucard again. Colored version, done in PhotoDeluxe. Yup, no Photoshop for me back then, just a cruddy freebie. Really darn spiffy. Finished November 2002.

Alucard from Hellsing. Finished November 2002. I drew this in class, all in pencil. I think it looks rather darn spiffy, and just like him.
