Khard/Stranger: Ryan does seem to have touched a nerve, doesn't he?! Earlier on there were a few hints that our merry little band never dared even to mention the source of Doug's pain. For Ryan to not only bring it up but to then throw it back in Doug's face, therefore, was probably not the wisest decision. But that's Ryan for you. In the heat of the moment he just can't help himself, poor lamb!
Albone: I guess if anyone was going to get Doug riled up enough to pummel someone, it was always going to be Ryan rather than some super villain!
Thip: They did indeed! As a demon hunter, part of Arturos's role is simply to help them find Thrawn. Ryan's first line in Panel 3 is meant to indicate that Arturos has already suggested he can do that. Of course, being a super hero comic (of sorts, anyway!) Arturos willl also be required to play his part in confronting the nasty beastie and that'll be coming up in Chapters 15 and 16. (Not long now ... just one more page of this chapter to go!)
Abt: Heh - I promised there'd be no more sandwich-centric dialogue in Shades. I never said Arturos wouldn't quietly continue to enjoy them!

Ghost: Absolutely! Although that's not the only emotions at play here. Ryan is genuinely concerned about Becky (and no doubt feeling responsible!) while Doug - although he can't help getting angry with Ryan - is actually still trying to protect him.
UsedBooks: I find that one of the fun things about a shot like that in Panel 3 is trying to decide what the characters in the background might be doing! Coyote: Yeah, Ryan's definitely a foot-permanently-in-mouth kind of person! One of his first actions nearly got him pummelled by Boo and here he is making the same mistake with Doug! In his defence, he is worried (and probably feeling a little guilty) about his sister. Oh, and Arturos is far too engrossed in the second half of his sandwich to fully realise what's going on!
