Your screen tones look a little fuzzy, but your use of shadows and negative space is absolutely phenomenal. The title definitely hooks you in and grabs your attention.
I think there's usually 10 winners, but yes I get your point. I'm not really that upset about it.
I usually just use normal crap, nothing special. Ballpoints and xerox paper, sharpies with the 'fine' point on one end and the normal point on the other. Otherwise I also do most 'inking' digitally as well, in photoshop CS2 with my Wacom Intuos.
Nah, don't feel bad about being rejected. You have to remember that millions of people apply to that Tokyopop contest, and only like 5 win. At least you got your submission in. Mine keep dying before I finish them, so I've never been able to actually send 'em in. As for the inking, what kind of pens do you use? On what paper? (sorry for all the questions)
Well thank ye kindly. Really, I mean it. I was feeling a bit self-concious after being rejected so I'm quite pleased you like it.
As for your question, two words. Meticulous inking.
Holy wow! Craziness! This is professional stuff! I love the contrast with all the dark shadows! How do you fill in those really detailed black areas while still having white lines on top of them? (like on the bandages on the character) Great Job!
